Hey all, been a member here for a little while, but haven’t posted much. I have a 2011 ram Laramie crew cab. I have the factory quad lights. I want to do a retrofit on a set of dual headlights but had a couple of questions.

Thinking of using a mini h1 on the duals. What kind of trimming is required (if any) on the duals to allow it to fit?

As far as the wiring, I know that the duals use an h13 bulb. My quads use an h11 for the lows. What kind of relay harness do I get to allow the hids to function properly in the duals? Would I get one for the h11 or h13? I’ve heard the quads and duals are both plug and play. Do I need a decoder for the 2011 or would just canbus hids be acceptable?

About to start ordering some parts, if anyone can let me know what all wiring, hids, etc I need to make this work with no errors, let me know.

Feel free to post pics of your builds!

As far as using a Mini H1 in a set of duals, there should be no issues fitting or trimming to get them in there. You could probably go up to a Mini D2S because of the larger reflector.

The wiring part, I can't answer yet.

I'm using a set of Mini D2S 4.0's in my quad build and I had to clearance the reflector for rotational alignment and the bezel to clear the projector shrouds. I posted my headlight build in the DIY section.

Those look great. I'm trying to decide if I wanna do chrome or color match. My truck is white with a lot of chrome so I'm not sure how the black would look. Yours look clean.

OnSale and RusslRam have done several custom headlight builds and their work looks fantastic. Those would be the gents to talk with about HID retrofits. The Retrofit Source sells most everything you would need to build a custom headlight or The Retroshop for items needed.

I'm sure other will chime in with their experiences and their custom builds too.

I have pics in my DIY thread with the bezels painted satin black.

I trimmed in spots that didn't need trimming, and I filled those back in with plastic epoxy and smoothed them over for repair. I was going to go satin black with the bezel anyway, so I went with it.

The first set I did was color match. Not sure how far along you are but I would get a set of DNA headlights($110 on Amazon). Very easy to open compared to the OEM headlights.35c0e9e081b740baf9f81d874dc5c070.jpg

Wow I love those! If it had a mini h1 in it, I would be set. You are making me rethink doing duals now. I’m not very far along at all. I guess if I did the hids in the quads . I would just need the h11 harness since that is what I have for my lows currently. Could I still do the Bi-Xenon projector and just not do anything in the high beams? Or just do a dummy bulb in the highs so it doesn’t show a light out?

You can get a splitter and run the factory hi beam and the bi-xenon hi beam if you wanted. I am building a set right now of the quads and got a set of leds for the hi-beam.

Mini D2S 4.0 bi-xenon, and a Profile Hi-Lens LED projector in the high beam reflector. Have to check with TRS for what I need for.wiring. Going to get the high beam splitter....

I think I’m going to go with my original plan of doing the duals. My main question is the wiring. Since I have the quad originally would I need the h11 relay harness of the h13. Im thinking the h13 but want to verify. Also does these relay harnesses eliminate the need for any kind of decoders?
