Hi Everyone,

First time RAM owner here, just picked it up less than 24 hours ago, so I'm pretty excited about it. Its a 2015 Express Crew Cab so not many frills, and one of my first upgrades after driving at night is going to be the headlights. I've looked up a few threads on here and am a little confused on this subject, so any help or pointing in the right direction is appreciated.

I have the stock "Quad" housing as I gather it's called, but want to upgrade to a projector style housing with HID's. I would prefer an aftermarket housing that has halo's or hawkeye look to it if available. My question is, it doesn't seem I can just plug and play a projector housing in this quad setup, so what conversion kits do I need to look for? Is it as simple as getting an HID conversion kit, and just finding a Projector housing I like? Or are there more things to consider?

Oh and not 100% needed but would be cool... Does anyone make an Active headlight for the RAM's? My wife's subaru headlights turn in the direction she's turning and straighten back after the turn, and it would be pretty neat to have that if at all possible! Thanks!

Chris

I’d say your best bet would be to get some TYC replica OEM projectors with a Drop in HID in the Low Beams and be sure to get the adapter harness when switching from quads to projectors. You can get that from the retro shop. Jeremey is a vendor on here and he could help you get what you want

IHemiMan is right. TYC replicas are awesome and add in an HID kit and it brings them all the way over the top. (If you go TYC or OEM projectors you will need and adaptor)

I will add some more options/things to consider.
There are tons of options by numerous suppliers for projector headlights. They are each different. Some have the correct wiring for replacement of quad headlights. Some are replacement of projector lights. You have to read the description of the one you like and see which style replacement it is. If it is a replacement for projector headlights than you will need and adaptor. Jeremy at Retroshop (vendor on here, awesome guy, and has helped many in here...including myself) has the adaptor.

Going HID with the projector is the perfect topping to the combo. Again numerous options here. You are going to have to wait to order an HID kit until you decide which headlights you go with. As each one may have a different style bulb (9005/9006/9012/H9/H11 etc etc etc). Then to add to the choices you have to decide color temp for the bulbs (4500, 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500) and ballast wattage (35W or 55W). Then depending on which kit and manufacturer you go with you may or not need another adaptor (anti-flicker capacitor, relays)

There is a lot out there. Take your time, start with headlights and go from there....one step at a time.

Looks like a very expensive build... From the original members post, it sounded like he was more in the "eBay $200-$400 aftermarket projector" price range. I don't think he's going to want to spend $1,400+ like I'm sure this build cost.

Yea I was just curious. They looked pretty spankin clean. I found his build for these headlights and I believe it was between $1500-$1600. Blows my mind....but they look so good! Haha

I built a set of 13+ TYC projectors myself, switchback led boards, switchback halos and C-Bars, custom paint, smoked clear corners and DRL lense... Did it all myself and still cost me over $1400.

I've got about $800 into my new headlight build and I still have about another $150 in parts to order. This build is going to be so sweet.

My recommendation is talk to Jeremy. He will build whatever you want. I'm just amazed at all the hardware thats needed.

Wow that build is intense! Right now I am in the market for the cheaper ebay style lights. I spent most of my money getting the truck lol but the stock quads are very disappointing in their visibility and looks (for my tastes anyway). I was towing my trailer through some back roads the other night and could barely see in front of me.

I would probably upgrade at a later point to the more expensive build, much like my tonneau cover. I bought a Lo Pro tonneau cover for $30 on craigslist that isnt perfect, but until I can afford a nicer one, it will hide my tools for now!

Thanks for all the input here!

I had Retroshop build OEM RAM headlights with their “black out” option and diode dynamic switchback boards. I added the HIDs myself.

If you send in your own headlights it’s really not that expensive.

I wish someone made a simpler headlight with a Hawkeye style that hugs the curve of the headlights on the inner grill side. Something subtle and without the Beamer halo additions. I hope I'm describing that right

My '14 was very similar. I thought they were borderline dangerous so just upgrading to LED bulbs was 1000% better. That might get you by for a while until you upgrade.

I have a 2014 ram 1500 5.7 bighorn. With the quad headlamps. Are they any options for led bulbs that I could do a direct replacement with? I know the canbus systems on these trucks limit the options quite a bit.

Here you go...... they are a vendor on here and have great quality LEDs that come with a great warranty but best of all they will not give you the error message strictly plug and play
