I have a 2015 ram 1500 that both headlights seem to randomly flicker once and then wait for a seemingly random amount of time and then repeat the single flicker.

My son and I have both noticed the behavior. I wouldn’t think that it would/should normally behave like that

Thanks

Mike

Welcome, does this flickering occur only whilst driving?

Haven’t noticed the behavior while stopped

There are several factors that can cause headlights to flicker while driving.

The more common problems could be related to the headlight bulbs themselves, a weak battery, or even the alternator starting to fail.

I’ve had the truck for a couple of years now and it’s done that since I got it. My wife thinks I’m imagining things

Yes Mike, it is possible that you are imagining things, but I doubt it. Not forgetting that you're son has also noticed it too.

Check out this link, obviously your not the only one who is "imagining things"...:)

I'm not really certain as it seems to be a common thing.

Some people stop using AUTO and have not experienced it recently.

Not sure if it is a defect in electronics for AUTO settings or just a natural occurrence altogether.

My 15 did it too, just a quick flicker...nothing wrong with yours. If I remember right, some others had it happen to them.

I had the flickering issue with my headlights and thought I was seeing things the first time it happened. One night when working in my buddy's van we had to go get some parts to finish the repair. On our way to the auto parts store the headlights flickered and I said, "did you both see that" and my buddy and his son both said yes. So the next following week I took it to the dealership and they flashed the BCM to get rid of the flickering issue. My neighbors friend also has a 2016 Ram cc and he had the flickering issue way worse then mine. He had his flashed and no longer has issue with headlight flickering.

oh, thank god, I found this. I more recently had to get bifocals for work and hide cheaters all over my shop. So when I thought I saw my head light do a quick flicker, I just assumed my old man eyes were imagining things. It only happens once every 3 months or so. It's hell getting old.

So... question here. Despite adding a 3rd party (i.e. non-OEM) replacement LED bulb/light, dealers are willing to flash the vehicle BCM to correct the issue? Do they charge for this?

I just installed a set of Nineo H11 LBs, 9005 HBs and fogs... and love them. Would like to keep them, but noticed the 'flickering' the other night. I won't live with that... very annoying.

Thanks for any replies.
