Getting ready to replace stub shafts and Cv axles, looking for heavy duty options and all I’m seeing on the market is cheap/reman and crazy$ RCV. There’s gotta be some off-roading company that’s somewhere in the middle, also any tips for reinstall to keep the new ones from rusting out or preventing the splines from chewing on each other. If y’all have a brand in mind over another please state why, or if you are currently using a brand how’s it holding up?
Thank you for any help

I’m pondering putting sumo spring coil inserts in the front to get less tire undulation and road vibration, should be a plus for Cv axle/suspension lifespan

I'm not sure about heavy duty CV axles, but you could go with long travel CV axles to minimize the angle with your new Lift.

I like the extra pivot angle of the ext travel version but I’m stock ride height so I’d rather not have unnecessary extra bearings and moving parts that could break down but thanks for the input

Is there a reason why you don't specify what truck you want help with,or are we supposed to guess if it's a 1500 or a 2500/3500 etc.

Cardone hd. When I did the 6.4swap I was constantly snapping cv axles. It's probly been 3 years since I replaced axles now. They're fatter shafted and I'd say the cage and balls are tougher too. They've put up with my abuse so I'm happy.

Many thanks Brandon, looks like they are the front runners for me so far, just hard to believe there’s not more options out there, after the 3years of running em are they still tight on the spline by the actuator

Same reason they dont make front lockers, a 1500 is a grocery getter ;)

Cardone HD seem to last the longest out of all the ones I got to buy over the years.

I unexpectedly disassembled my passenger side CV around 8 years ago and put in a Cardone replacement, no trouble since then. I am a slow-and-steady driver on rough terrain, the event that popped the factory CV in the first place was unusual circumstances. The Cardone is visibly more stout but that also leads to the worry that I've only moved the next weakest link to somewhere more expensive to replace.

Splines are tight but I also always replaced the c clips and as @Hemi395 and I talked about, use an o ring and never seize on the end of the cv where it goes on the axle stub. Keeps crap out better and never seize/copper cote or equivalent keeps parts from rusting together.

I second this, I have Cardone HD axles on my truck, 0 issues and they're holding up great.

Yup this is the key to keeping those splines from wearing out and/or rusting together.

Another thing I've found is you can disengage the axle enough from the stub shaft to check it and repack it with grease/anti seize. I try to do this annually. So far with 100k on my truck now the splines on the stub shaft still look good.
