Please read and give me some opinions. This isn't another "will it fit" thread, I am just having a hard time making my mind up on what tire size to go with.

I am having a hard time deciding on a tire size for my 2009 Ram 1500 4x4. My truck currently has a 2.5" leveling kit, stock 20" wheels and 275?60r20 BFG tires. I am getting a set of pocket fender flares color matched to put on my truck. I originally thought about keeping the factory 20" inch wheels and going up in tire size, but I think I have finally decided on going with a 17' wheel. I want the wheel and tire to stick out some and fill the flare. I have chosen the Moto Metal MO970 17x8" 00mm offset with 4.5" backspacing.

I can't make up my mind on the tire size, you would think I was making a life altering decision or something. LOL. I just want to make sure I get a good tire that looks good on the truck but also functional. I am thinking about a 285/70r17 tire, but also have looked at 285/75r17. Currently looking at the Toyo Open Country A/T II, but also looking at some other brands as well.

I can't decide which size to buy. Please share your thoughts and opinions/experiences.

I ran a 305/70R18 cooper STT pro on my 18x9 ATX wheels with 0mm offset and had slight rub with the same 2.5" leveling kit. You should be fine with either size as you are .8" narrower and even the taller one is still 1 inch shorter.

Thanks for the input and info. I also tossed around the idea of getting a 295/70r17 or even a 305/70r17. I just can't make up my mind. I am leaning towards the Toyo Open Country AT2 in a 285/75/r17, but I haven't decided 100% yet.

I have done a lot of searching on here and other sites for different set ups tire and wheel wise but just can't tell if 285/75r17 will fill the fender too much.
