I was doing the head gasket, I'm torquing everything down with my angle meter, and I look in the head a see a C-clip.

OOF!

Any idea what this might be to? Not entirely sure its even engine related, but it somehow was laying in my cylinder head. I took the head off for about 15min, had it covered in a different area of the garage while scraping the gasket surface on the block, put it back on, did my thing with bolts and torque, and then right at the end I see if sitting in the head.

Does it belong to anything in the engine? None of the valve springs seemed loose like they wanted to fly off and kill me

I'm really hoping it came off of the harbor freight special breaker bar or torque angle meter....

That looks like clip that holds ratchet head in wrench handle. I can't think if any part in engine held by a clip like that. They banging wrench on raised surface and see if you can drive innards out.

Nothing in the head would use that clip. Possible coincidence it fell in during that 15 minute window though.

That doesn't look like anything engine related, did you use any lifting equipment that that E ring held together, thats a external ring, a ratchet uses a internal ring.
