My truck has been making 2 loud clunking noises then starting. Its a 5.9 2007 diesel. I took it to a local mechanic (its a small town) who pulled out the starter and said it is not the starter even though it sounds like missing teeth. The problem started suddenly. He said he thinks its the "Pastilla Encendido" which shows garbage in Google Translate. Googling the entire term, it seems to be maybe the ignition module? Either way they do not sell diesel pickups down here so getting the part could be a big challenge, especially when I am not sure its the part I need. My strategy is to hopefully start it, get as far north each day I can and hope I can make it into the US. Has anyone had this symptom and what di it trun out to be? I am alsmost wondering if it is a battery problem? I am thinkign of having another tuck conenct with me via jumper cables while I start it and see if it goes away. When I got it back from the mechanic it started normal, the next tiem ne thunk then start. I am frightened to start it unless I am moving. I am also towing an RV. I am actually leading an RV Caravan which is the other issue. If I dont move, they don't.

If it the strter module undr thr dash, how hard is it to chnage. I do have a 2006 5.9 in the group. If mine won't start maybe I can swap out to his to get it running if its just a case of a plug-in.
