I am wanting to install a flowmaster super 44 series dual but not true duals on my dodge ram 1500 4x4 2005 hemi 5.7 liter v8 slt magnum QC. Would this be something i can do myself? im wanting to bolt it on with clamps becouse i dont have a welder. Also would it void the warranty? have you had any experiance with the super 44? Im wanting to buy the exhaust from ebay and its a whole kit for about $200how would i know that the stock pipe will fit the stock pipe where ill cut it? And is there a big difference between mandrel bent and not? worth the extra green paper? do i need to weld the hangers on? thanks David

I've got a super 44 on mine right now. Just in place of the stock muffler. It's not too loud when cruisin but has a nice growl when I get into it.

i was looking at a similar kit when i got my cherry bomb extreme. mandrel bents flow a little better. the hangers they supply are ment to bolt to the frame, so don't need to be welded. also they are the type that hook into the clamps. so were the clamps are, if they've figured it out right, there should be some were to bolt the hanger. as far as it fitting, as long as you tell them what you have they should send all the right parts. the kit i was looking at had a 3" diameter pipe going from the factory y to the new muffler. if your exhaust is like mine, then it's all clamps, shouldn't be a need to cut anything just undo the clamps and take it apart and slap the new one on. never had experience with flowmaster, but i hear that they don't flow well at all and rust out very fast. i'd e-mail em and ask em what size pipe they were using. only reason i didn't go with the similar kit is it was 2.25" pipe and i want 2.5.

I ran a si/do fowmaster 50 series an liked the sound for about 5 years. It didn't rust out but the tail pipes did give up. I changed over to Magnaflow and my truck felt stronger and I picked up a few tenths in my 0-60 times. I would recommend not installing a FM style muffler as they apparently will kill some power. Personal choice...

You can pick up a Summit chambered muffler for bout $35-$40 that is the same as a Flowmaster. Soon as my Delta 40 rusts out im gettin a Magnaflow though.

No, it does not automatically void your warranty. Look up the Magnuson and Moss Act. A dealer may not void your warranty simply because an aftermarket part exists on the vehicle. They must prove beyond doubt that the problem for which you are seeking correction was caused by that aftermarket part or fix it and quit ********. On that same note, if you go to a dealer because your front suspension is acting funny and they give you some bull about "oh well you have an exhaust so your warranty is voided" Bull ****! Sue them. Because they are dead wrong and acting illegally.

It's just saying that the whole thing isn't magnaflow, just the muffler is magnaflow. The piping is just a random piping made to fit these trucks

For sound-wise, just look at you-tube, there's thousands of videos of different sounding muffler and tip combinations for magnaflow and flowmaster. Just find the one you like best!

I had a flowmaster. I loved the sound, most of the time. It would drone very bad on the highway, enough that after a trip to florida I cut it off. I now have a Borla XR1 muffler that I turned out in front of the rear tire. It sounds much better, loader at wot, and no drone. When I cut off the fm, I also found that the top was starting to rust through.

I did notice a performance improvement after getting rid of the fm as well.

okay...as for the muffler rusting, the #1 cause for them doing so, is because condensation builds in the chamber...on short drives you do not build enough heat in the exhaust to evaporate all the condensation, thus it sits in the chamber of the muffler, leading to them rusting out...most mufflers are equipped with a drain to relieve itself of this condensation, but some arent...(you ever see the old timers cars where they have water dripping from their exhaust?, This is the condensation built from the exhaust)

As far as the diameter of your piping...in the case of exhaust, bigger is not always better...exhaust is released in bursts of pressure, not a steady stream...when you increase the pipe size too much you can actually hurt the horsepower a little, simply cause with the bigger pipe the exhaust cannot exit the pipes fast enough...especially at idle.

As stated, short trips are hard on mufflers. I ran my Flowmaste 50 for 5 years and it wasn't rusted out. The pipes were shot but I live 20 miles from anything and that saved the muffler. I also felt a decrease of power when I first installed the Flowmaster. Truck was about 2 weeks old and I really liked the sound. And gained some power back when I finally replaced the FM with a Magnaflow. The FM droned at cruise and the Mag sounds sweet no matter what the speed.

ok im looking more toward the magnaflows now... the ones on ebay, is that a good deal or will i be getting ripped off? it says with 20inch rims that it will be be very tight fit? Does that mean when u order them they wont fit? this is a job i plan on doing in my garage with hand tools. and when it says its NOT a bolt on kit it still mean i can bolt everything on with clamps without welding? thanks for you alls input its really starting to make sence to me.
