Yeah I thought so. I did just change the oil. Went from high mileage to just regular synthetic. Seems like since that it's been louder .idk.

Thanks for the help.

Anyone have any insite on their ram ticking and continuung to tick ?

Search hemi tick, usually lifters or mani bolts. If you have any questions after reading the 100 threads on it, just post a thread asking the questions. Many of us have figured some things out, easy to see search hemi tick in titles, GL

I got my 2009 ram 1500 used. About a year after my purchase I noticed the hemi tick and like everyone else the Boise would go away after a few min. Now the sound stays and it's a speratic taping.

Tap,tap,tap.....Tap,tap.....taptaptap .tap.....tap

My buddies first thought it was unrelated then and sounded like a pully. But I think it's still the hemi tick just worse now. Because now it will not stop even after engineer worm up.

I have the parts from Mopar to fix the leak and replace the bolts, I'm just hoping that sound is from the manfold leak and not a rod or something .

Anyone have any insite on their ram ticking and continuung to tick ?

I’d jump back a few posts on this thread and read Burla’s comments. He’s got a lot more info that might help you.

View attachment 144407 Just posting this for reference in case anyone has issues with their dealer. I’m at 40k miles and all work was covered under power train warranty.

How many times did you go to the dealer and how loud did it have to get for them the do the repair? I am hearing a slight pffft pfttt pfttt sound on passengers side at start up. Only lasts about 12 seconds right now. Only 14K miles on the truck.

My SIL's 2012 Hemi RAM has 3 broken manifold bolts on the Drivers side so I'm familiar with the manifold sound.

Well, it is redline 5w30 that we have found out to be a tick killer, and a royal purple FILTER, not royal purple oil. I would however not worry about it unless I got it. Redline is a great oil to consider, but many top oils, see the oil poll on what the forum is using. Pennzoil is on the top of the heap, and next comes m1. Read my oil filter thread in my signature, and visit the synthetic oil thread for some good info on oil formulations and additives in those formulations that help hemi's.

My dealer took care of it on the first go. I was very specific with my concern. I also brought a video of my cold start. The video helps since the sound goes away after it warms up.

So with all the information and reports of people having this lifter issue, why doesn't Dodge issue a recall for it?
Aren't there some Dodge service reps on here that can confirm that there is in fact a legit issue with the lifters?

My guess is because

A) its not as often as we think it happens (people dont go on the internet to praise nearly as much as to complain)

and more likely B) it happens outside of warranty, so they have no reason to care and every reason to let it go in hopes you pay them to fix it.

Because all they have to do is tell you it's normal hemi noise, problem solved as far as they are concerned... :321:

If they tell you it's normal, there is no number to be known. There is hemi tick, and cam fails. Although I would suggest they can be related, only a certain number end up as cam fails within warranty. After warranty, nobody gives a remote ****.

I have had the tick for quite some time now. It quiets after running and I don't believe the rocker arm is stuck. If I replace the one arm that has play, will I have to adjust timing or is it as simple as take the old one out and put the new one in?
