I am getting a high pitched squeak from the front engine compartment of 2017 5.7 truck. Thought it was a belt or pulley but the noise continues for a few seconds after I turn off the engine. The noise starts about 15 seconds after the truck starts. Any ideas?

First guess, starter issue. Things to look at starter relay and/or ignition. A 2017 doesnt have a TIPM, which means we can't blame it on that which is a bummer because it would make things easier. Have someone under the truck when you turn it off with a stethoscope on the starter. Original OEM battery? Live in cold place? If so I would replace that first, I do believe if that is the case you would have a decent chance this fixes it plus it is likely needed anyway., Maybe decent chance is too strong, but a 1/2 chance this could fix it.

His zip shows Colorado. Starter makes noises after 15 seconds running, not at start up and/or after shut off? Hmmmmm. Burla, U thinking starter solenoid/bendix not fully disengaging hanging up somehow causing the pinion gear to drag? Me thinks not take long to have shaved off parts and bye bye gear. I can understand the noise at startup, but after shut off? dat one got me, hmmmmm. (Fuel pump running for a few secs after shut off, but they not normally squeak). Did the 17's possibly have mechanical fan? (that give shut off noise, or maybe "secondary fan" ref HVAC)? BOIRD thinking out loud, dangerous, INTERNET GUESSNOSIS at it's best.

ADDED: Looked up prices: Remans like $120 and up, and New shows like $400 ref starter (Advance Autoparts)

OP: U may need to post video of noise.

OP says it continues AFTER they shut off the engine. There is no rotational mass that will turn for 15 seconds after the engine is shut down. My guess is AC pressures thru the metering orface. Easy enough to check. Turn off your climate control and give it a try.

The engine doesnt turn the starter, the battery does. I assure you this electric motor can turn if there is an issue with a switch allowing power through when the "key" is turned off. Easy enough to test as well, all you need is a stethoscope or home made one and someone who can turn the key off. Not saying this is the issue, just saying it is possible.
