Why does Amazon say it isn't compatible? is it because you have to drill the dust covers and program the BCM to accept HIDs?

edit: It's because the canbus is super picky and even the canbus module for these fails to work sometimes. I think I'll give them a try.

It's most likely because our trucks came with halogen bulbs

I have the supernova v.4 and love them. Supposedly the katana on Amazon is the same light. Look identical for 1/5th the cost.

I have the katanas and from pic's on headlight revolutions site they appear to be identical. Without have them in hand side by side to visually compare can't say for sure. I will say that I feel these are the bright led's I have tried

I just finalized the install of my HIDs. Here's my documentation video in case anyone cares. :)

Make sure you set HID to on in the BCM for this to work properly.

Low beam HIDs are https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NCQHGS7/
High Beam LEDs are https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VFHDG78/
Fog Light LEDs are https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C7BZRVZ/
Dust covers are from https://headlightrevolution.com/pai...projector-style-headlight-dust-covers-33402c/

These are fun to put HIDs in aren't they? FYI I have Morimoto HIDs with the XB 5500k bulbs and they fit under the stock cover with a hole drilled for the grommet in the same place. Mine have been running for over 2 years and I just replaced the bulbs which I expected since I'm running a 55w ballast. I was able to tuck my ballast under the headlight sideways. There's a nice little void. I have a 2013 Ram 2500 with the factory projector lights. (I actually replaced those with the blacked out TYC version and they have better cutoff than the OEM ones.) I have gotten both TYC lights replaced under the lifetime warranty and there were no questions asked. (If I recall I was getting condensation in the first set.) The attached photo shows the ballast dropped into that void under the headlight area. Nice video, I'm sure it will be helpful to others! 15900f94b14e513742ff5f8b3dd612bd.jpg

Installed the gtr leds from headlight revolution in my ram 2017 projector headlights a few weeks ago. Also the extended cover for proper clearance. very impressed so far. checked the pattern right after install on the same blank wall I have used before with same distance and marks on wall. pattern was spot on. around town driving its a big improvement. real test will be the highway at night with no other light.

Cheers

I too purchased the gtr HID kit from HR but have been unsuccessful in getting them to work so far. HR is sending a harness and I'll go at it again. Did you have to change anything on the BCM to get these to work or just plug and play as they claim? Trying to improve the crappy factory factory light output on my '16 rebel that came with factory projectors.

You'll either need a canbus adapter or alphaobd to make the proper changes in the bcm

You need to turn on VehConfig 3 - High Intensity Discharge Head Lamps using AlfaOBD, or maybe AppCar could do it too.

You shouldn't need the PIN unless you're programming keys or TPMS thresholds. As long as you don't have a 2018 or later the software just works.

headlight revolution made it easy. had the ram projector headlight "kit" recommended the can bus adaptor and covers for that style not to mention a video for how to install.

to be clear I went the LED route

I found in my testing that LEDs in the low beams were a little too dim for my taste. How are the ones you got?

I tried the ones from Headlight Revolution. They are plenty bright, but I did notice a little "splotchyness" (if that is a real word). Planning on trying some HIDs this weekend, but leaving the Brights with the LEDs. I have the Projector low-beams, so that may be a factor.

That was another thing I saw, the beam pattern from LEDs is better suited for reflectors rather than projector lenses. That's why I went with HID in the lows and LED in the highs.

Yep. live and learn. Nice job on the cover install video btw.
