No custom here, its in my uconnect apps screen
Yeh , but doest yours turn off after 10 seconds or so , I'm looking for a way to leave on the back up or cargo camera while towing or hauling . Looks like the Custom Tronix will let the cargo cam run indefinitely , Untill turned off on the touch screen .

Be careful leaving the backup camera on for a long period of time. Almost all of them are only designed for intermittent short duration use and will fail if left on for long periods of time. I looked into this for using backup cameras on snowmobile trail groomers to watch the trail being groomed and we were unable to find many backup cameras that support continuous use.

I agree , I guess it would be nice if you could set a timer for like 30 seconds or so , but it's a nice feature to have either way !

You can turn off the MDS if you want by selecting high gear in the truck manually. If I pull it in drive and select 6th in my 15' 2500 it will drive and shift normally but no MDS. Put it in D and it re activates it.

^^ I believe on the 15+'s they removed this on the 1500's. I was told this by numerous sources. However I have never checked my self. Can anyone confirm or deny this on a 1500?

Tow/Haul mode does the same thing..

Pulled a single axle dump trailer with electric brakes last weekend. First time I used my '15 Ram 1500 to pull my trailer. Anyway, when I disconnected the 7 pin plug from the truck, engine running, I noticed a red light I hadn't seen before in the EVIC. It was pic of a trailer with a red circle/slash.
I then shut off the truck and restarted it and the warning went away. I looked in the owners manual, but couldn't find any mention of this. So, my thoughts on this are, if your plug would become loose or become unplugged while pulling a trailer, it will warn you.

Sounds like a safety feature so if you're driving and the plug comes lose it lets you know... Just a guess but I'll bet that's it. :favorites13:

CB, I don't buy this. There is nothing about the components that have a use factor. These are just electrical signals being sent to and from. The screen is on all the time anyway. The only issue would be the photo sensor in the camera but that should outlast the theoretical use of the truck anyway.

The issue is the sensor burning out from high temperatures. I talked to a number of people who had installed them on snow groomers and until you got into a $1000 or higher camera the sensor would burn out after a month or so of use. Keep in mind that a groomer typically goes out for 12-14 hours at a time.

The sensors in the cheaper cameras aren't designed with any heat dissipation as they typically are only on for a couple minutes at most.

If you unplug your trailer while it is on it gives you a waring that it is unplugged like AirbourneSilva said just incase you didn't know it was unplugged
