Well @SitKneelBend - you are the winner - I took out the TCP LED bulb in the opener that I put in about 7 years ago and as soon as I did I barely had to press Homelink and the door was opening, from inside the truck

I did order the Genie bulbs on Amazon should be here tomorrow, as well as the Genie plug-in surge protector (for $13 can't hurt) for the ceiling plug in point

This will end nearly 6 years of frustrating Homelink on my Ram I hope!

Glad it was a simple fix! I just bought these LEDs to keep the bugs from swarming in towards the light and they work too for those interested in brands that may come across your problem...

Another update - had some spotty issues again, even with new bulbs - I reprogrammed Homelink again last night - do not go by the Homelink site instructions for Ram with the Genie intellicode 2 openers - use the PDF which is similar to the instructions, however, change the battery on the remote fob first to a fresh one, and be sure to place the opener into 'programming' mode for the button you are using to train your Homelink -

Leaving to drop my son off today at pre-K and coming home worked flawless once I reprogrammed according to the instructions - this is a step noted on the Homelink site but not in the main Ram training video

Sorry to resurrect this thread, I just stumbled on it in my research.

I've always had this problem with my 2017 Ram 2500, I just gave up and used the visor clip clicker opener that comes with the garage door opener. For me, it is not an issue of opener LED light bulb interference.

I took the truck to a remote parking lot and tried to program the truck's HomeLink "Universal Garage Door Opener" with various door opener clickers without any indication the truck has the HomeLink software installed. There is no LED light bulb interference in a remote parking lot. There is no indicator light on the overhead console, no EVIC display. Nothing. Dead.

The truck wasn't built right, and now that I put in an ECM tune, I'll be damned if I'll take it to a dealer because they won't just install a segment of software, they overwrite ALL the software with their latest version.

Btw, I programmed our other vehicle, a Mazda, no problem WITH LED bulbs in the garage opener. RAM fails again.

I'm wondering if your BCM isn't set for the homelink buttons being present for some reason? Do you have AlfaOBD?

Point is, shouldn't need to. This said, I bought the vehicle used @ 1 year and 13,000 miles, which is why I tried to clear the HomeLink buttons 1st to ensure they were blank. It acted just as dead trying to deprogram them as to new program them. Thanks, but I'm not going into the BCM to fool around now.

Fair enough, but it being used, it could be a DIY add. Its possible it also has the wrong module added but you'd need to pull it to look at the part number. 2009-2012 homelink module would behave the way you describe in a 2013+ truck...

That would imply they installed a prior homelink into a truck built 5 years after discontinuation. I think even for FCA that would be a non-starter. Not pulling anything. I programmed a a clicker. I'm just showing th equality issues in this area.

So what you are saying is that it never worked since you have had it. You bought it at 1 year old w/ 13k miles on it?
Dealer never repaired it on warranty? Seems odd.

The new door opener upgraded its software from Rolling Code 2.0 to version 3.0 - not backward compatible with previous clickers. Also needs HomeLink 4.0 or higher. Found out Ram converted to 4.0 in 2012, my truck is 2017. All indications on paper say the truck's HomeLink should work. It doesn't.

PS: There are not lights on mine either except the night lighting. It indicates by flashing a message in the EVIC

That's what the instructions say - they are a two step: (1) program the HomeLink with the new remote clicker; (2) program the opener with the HomeLink.

As I've stated, that does not work on my truck. EVIC display does not show any HomeLink information, manual says it is supposed to.

*if it's programmed in the BCM. If you have the window sticker you'll know if it was original equipment.
