For those of you with adjustable panhard bars how much preload are you guys setting?

If my memory serves the stock bar is 33 3/8" give or take.

I took the measurement from the center of each bolt hole. I have preloaded to 34" even. Just curious to other setups out there.

Won’t making it longer push your axle outward to the drivers side?

Not sure what you mean by preload

I kept mine at stock length, my rear diff wasn’t off center so saw no need to go up or down

In this context I'm refering to once the user has installed the bar how much adjustment are they using on the panhard bar past the stock length.

I put the core4x4 bar next to the stock bar and stuck a bolt thru the fixed end of both bars together. I then adjusted it to the exact length as the stock bar with a bolt into both ends then I installed it on the truck.

I researched this question and the answer is No. Adjusting this bar makes it more rigid and keeps the axle from moving side to side.

The longitudinal adjustment comes from adjustable Upper/Lower control arms. Only then will you be able to move the axle anywhere you like when alignment front to back.

My concern is how much adjustment has anyone made? I don't want to twist the frame :)

I would leave it loose install it then snug it up and tighten the jam nut, I have never heard of putting preload on a panhard bar.

There is no “preload” on the bar at all. Adjusting the length does not “stiffen” anything up.

Adjusting the length simply relocates the axle side to side. You want the bar the correct length to keep it centered under the truck at ride height. Thats all. Unless your truck is lifted, you should not need to lengthen it at all.

Truck is lifted. I was simply looking for if anyone had to make adjustments on an adjustable panhard bar to their truck.

If its a lift “kit”, most will either come with a new/adjustable bar, or a drop mount to utilize the stock unit, if needed.

Regardless, put it together and set it down on all fours. If rear axle is not centered, adjust it accordingly.
