I expect it will. Your CSWM was throwing fault codes because it didn't see the wheel, so it knows it's supposed to be there. Remember, every truck with that module has heated front seats and wheel. Only heated rear seats and ventilated front seats are options.

Funny you say that, but my truck when I installed the heated wheel threw a code for it. It said something like improbable error or something along those lines. I had no way at that time the BCM to activate them. My truck again when I added the laramie seats the heated side works fine, the cooled do not react, and the steering wheel did nothing. Thats where my assumption of what will happen comes from. Again this is just based on my experience so far.

Getting my clockspring and wheel installed tomorrow. I didn't enable the wheel in the BCM, so it will be interesting to see if it works without the code flipped on.

Planning doing mine myself this weekend when and if I get my truck back. I am curious what they are charging you to install the clockspring?

Mine worked without adding the code and I am thinking yours will as well. As stated your CSWM was looking for it. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Whatever actual labor is so hopefully not more than $150. We will see. This dealer has been really fair to me, so I keep giving them business. There's been several times they have got me in the next day. Always give me rides to work when dropping it off, has topped my def off and added codes at no cost. They are going to fix my scratches in my door too, so we shall see.

What happened to your tuck that the dealer has had it this long?

I hit a deer or rather it hit me! If it was not a dually probably would not have made impact, only struck the bed. They replaced the outside panel, now they have been waiting for the clear peel and stick chip protector, so they tell me, they told me today tomorrow (Fri) for sure. The original date they gave me was 2 weeks ago, I am not happy. I don't want to be a **** yet till I get it back though. They do have a really good rep so I suppose the wait is more frustration than anything. I also have a car so no worries about transportation.

Took pics out, as they are kind of off point and too disturbing every time I scroll thru this thread.

The idea was more intimidating than the actual work of the steering wheel and clockspring. There are a total of 5 t20 for screw and 1 13mm bolt. Now that I've done it I can likely do it in less than 5 minutes. The hardest part is the airbag removal.

Every vehicle I have ever owned has been fixed at least once because of deer, just a matter of time till my new truck gets it. It's so bad in my neck of the woods that my dad hit two in one day lol. Hopefully you get it back tomorrow!

If it was summertime here I would have done it myself. I work 50+ hours a week and I spend all weekend helping my dad at the family farm, so my actual time to work on my truck is limited right now, so I figured I'll just let the dealer do it so it gets done.

So I haven't got the truck back yet, but the dealer says the button does not work. So when I get home tonight, I'll add the code and see what happens.

What did you install for a steering wheel? Was it complete from a truck or did you swap your stuff over to a bare wheel?

It was complete from a truck that had 1000 miles on it. I'm going to clear the DTCs first and see if the steering wheel related ones go away. Just want to make sure all of the wiring is correct.

RT are you implying that the heating element could be faulty (used wheel) also the harness for the radio buttons has to be the one for the heated wheel even though it does not plug into it? The wheel harness is listed in three flavors if I remember correctly.

1 No frills evic and cruise switches
2 Radio buttons and above
3 heated wheel and above

Also is there a way to test the heating element (standard continuity), if so what should the resistance be? Sorry if I am going off on a tangent just getting ready for my turn should I encounter issues.

I was asking because of the harness. You're correct that there are 3. The one for the heated wheel has an additional connector that plugs into the temperature sensor in the wheel. You should be able to test both circuits. I forget what the values should be but it should be obvious if you have either a short or an open.

Nailed it. Are you getting it today. We have a truck going to auction I might redo the wheel with. I'm curious to if when you code it if it works

I am definitely surprised that it didn't work. I am curious to see what happens when you add the code. If this seems to be the case with most of the trucks I wonder why mine worked without installing any codes? Makes no sense so far. It may not be a year thing due to the fact that William S. had no success with his heated wheel and his truck is a 14 and so is mine. I think the only difference is that I think his seats were out of a 15 and mine are out of a 14.

FYI, I updated the schematic today to show all of the correct terminal numbers as well as added a connection matrix. I'm still working out all of the back seat wiring, but I'll get it added soon also.

**Note: The wiring color does not reflect actual factory wiring colors. I just used different colors to delineate the different wires on the schematic.

Thanks Guys for all the work you put in to everything on the board.

My donor was a 2014 Laramie. I wonder why yours did work, you had to lay wires, the whole 9 yards and plugged it in. Something fishy about your BCM. This thread is so deep its hard to judge, has anyone else with a 12-14 Express/Tradesman plug and play the seats and steering wheel like you did?

He wont ever know it had it. Ill pull the switch panel and once my programmer comes monday remove it from the screen. The heated seats will still be in the radio.
