Well, I bought my truck in March of 2012. Its around 20 degrees here in South Dakota and the temperature is dropping. I used fish line to take the 4X4 off of the tailgate, no problem. Now, the 3M tape is not coming off without a big fight. Its going to be next to impossible taking the tape off in the cold with out an eraser wheel. I don't have a garage either so its always out in the cold. Going to my sisters place this weekend. Hopefully she will let me put it in her garage to warm the tape up. The black colored tape kinda looks cool in a way cause it still says 4X4...

Finally found time to debadge the truck. I feel like my 3M tape was tough as hell to get off. Probably does not help when it was around 20 degrees outside. I have a lot of tape residue to get off this weekend. I'm going to see if I can find some Naphtha at Lowes to help take it off. Love the look so far. Looks much cleaner without the tacky RAM 1500 badges on the doors.

Well, tried to use goo gone and bug and tar remover so far and no luck getting all the residue off from the 3M tape. Its becoming a real pain in the ass.....

Okay. I'll pick one up tomorrow cause its to the point where its nearly impossible to get off. Hopefully I can find one in town here. If not I'll have to order one. I think someone asked this already but is there any chance of taking paint off with the eraser wheel? For instance is there a technique to it that I need to be aware of? I've never used one before.

Picked up an eraser wheel for $40 today. Worked like a charm. I should have used one right away. I couldn't believe how easily it took the rest of the tape residue off. Looks much better now and I'm very happy with debadging my truck. I think it looks much more "slick" I guess.

Yes I could have saved a few dollars. Only problem is I'm one of those people that when I want something I want it right now. But thanks for the offer.

I'm exactly the same. Went and bought a ps3 game from hastings today since I was in there. Best buy (10 mins away) had it for $15 cheeper, but I had to have it now! :Good or Bad:

Are all the badges only held on with 3M tape? I had a Ford that most of the badges were stuck on with 3M tape, but they had centering holes. So when I took the badges off there were holes in the fender. Anything like that on the Ram?

Front and rear RAM heads are pinned so don't remove them! All the rest you're OK with.

I did the fishing line removal. It worked great, the only problem is that the fishing line will cut your fingers so I suggest you wear some gloves. I had a eraser wheel from another job I did so I used it to remove the tape. Then I used some polishing compound and a wax job.
It looks good and clean.

I can't find naphtha anywhere where I live. Would TSP work just as good to clean off the tape? Or another paint thinner? Or should I just get goof off?
