You're not going to have any luck with that 5th Gen Aptiv/Delphi radio. See a few posts up for 4th gen UAQ UAS and UCx PNs.
I'm here because I have an 8.4 Delphi radio out of a 2019 Ram (model 682XXXXXXAH) that I bought for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I also have the updated hub. It did what I needed from it.

Now I have 2017 Ram 2500, Tradesman. I hooked it up to see if it worked. It worked but no car play (as I don't have the harness for the hub) and no volume control. HVAC seemed to work fine with the manual controls.

To be clear I just want it for apple car play. I'm hoping volume control and the 6 pin to 8 pin harness for the hub is all I need. Anyone mind sharing what the known issues are? As in they might not be issues for me as long as my manual controls work for HVAC and I have the carplay. Would I be wasting my time getting the harness and volume control?

Thanks for any replies

Maybe a bit off-topic....has anyone managed to get turn by turn to show up in the EVIC using a 2018 UAS on v22.6 with CarPlay?

I have enabled the setting in the BCM via AlphaOBD but it does not show up as a display option on the screen. Thinking the feature is reserved for UAQ units only??

CarPlay is only available on the 2018 and up UAx radios

Can you go into more detail about what you mean by not available? This radio fo sho has apple car play. I've used this radio in a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with some lost functionality ie no back up camera. I know I am not going to have full functionality through the 8.4.

It's cheaper usually to get the parts yourself (get Mopar parts from forum vendor AllMoparParts) and then get the needed harnesses me if needed...

There's not reallya straightforward answer because it depends on your each person's truck Year/model/trim and features.vMay seem redundant, but....

Factory installed 2017 8.4 Radio with Dual Zone ATC ?

1500 or 2500?

What year/model 8.4 radio you plan to use?
(2018/19+ classic 4th Gen Ram UAS/UAQ... Actual PNs please),

Do you have a Backup Camera/Cargo Cam? (Where do they display?)

What parts, if any have you bought?
(Actual PNs help)

Thanks, the replies to my post are encouraging. Here's what I'm working with:

Factory-installed 2017 8.4 Radio with Dual Zone ATC?

Yes

1500 or 2500?

2017 1500 Sport Night Edition 4x4 Crew 5'7" bed

What year/model 8.4 radio do you plan to use?

Unsure, I was hoping to go UAS just because I don't *need* the factory NAV and I thought it would save me money, but it would depend more on what I could find. I don't have factory NAV in my 8.4 now, so I don't know if I would need to add anything with a new UAQ to make that work. Are there any other benefits from going with one or the other? Didn't one have an issue with screens peeling? I'm open to recommendations here; if I wanted to not gamble on getting a used unit, even though it would cost me more, I could buy a brand new unit (68331631AH or 68331635AH) from Mopar or another reseller, correct? Looks like this is what @cleancl did.

Do you have a Backup Camera/Cargo Cam? (Where do they display?)

I have the factory Backup Camera; no Cargo Cam or plans to add one.

What parts, if any, have you bought?

No parts purchased.

Thanks in advance; if I can figure out what radio to target and then find one, sounds like it'll be fine to go that route. I'll buy the needed harness from you anytime. I can go ahead an order the RAM Media Hub (68328704AC) now as well, correct? Or is the one that @thrashie (68397098AE) used a better option?

I have searched this in a few different areas and almost certain that this is only available for UAQ units with Factory NAV.

update on my adventures.. tried to use new 68397098ae HUB today. Still only 1 usb port seen by the radio and worked during initial install. Printed a 3D faceplate from @deathbyburito to find that it was too big (will have to trim console. will try to work on new 3D model to fit existing hole). Lost USB connections overnight. Android auto still not working (communications error -8) back to my old hub and usb is working again. Will order UAx USB Hub Adapter Harness from @Mpgrimm2 and hope that fix things.

Current observations, even though my truck is 2018 lower trim (mfg date 5/18).. connections appears to be that of the older style.

maybe.if it is a verified 684 part number from a ram classic.i don't know if they have newer 684 numbers yet or not.i am running a 2020 684 number uaq from a challenger i changed the mount on without problems but my truck was a factory uas truck.i wouldn't recommend anything other than a ram part number on a upgrade though, most people have problems.plus if the part number is to new i have had trouble getting unlock codes.

Yes the opening for the 2016 hub is different than the 2018 and trimming was necessary to fit the larger hub. A redesign would be required to fit the existing opening of the 2018. It could likely fit without needing to trim.

What all do I need to buy to keep all my factory functions (my air suspension is my big worry)? I just want Android Auto so dang bad...

Dual zone with the automatic temp function. I'm sorry if I sound like an idiot on any of this, I'm used to the old way of just taking the stock out and sticking in an aftermarket.

Then for your 2016 1500 you need a compatible 4th gen 4c UAQ or UAS radio, hub adapter harness, and one of the 3 USB hub options mentioned in post 5

Do you have a recommendation on which hub to get out of the 3?

17 Chrysler 200 dual hub, no gaps almost same fit as original but it's on national backorder with no ETA.

17 compass single port hub is the simplest install but leaves a gap.

18 Ram dual Hub, requires you to make a filler plate, etc and cutting the opening to fit or get an entire 18/classic upper console lid assy.

Awesome, thank you! I really appreciate your time! It's just nerve racking to spend this much money and not really know what I'm diving into.

Hi Mpgrimm2, read a heap of your post re upgrading to UAQ units.
Im looking at doing this on my 2013 MY14 jeep grand cherokee limited.
I know im on the wrong forum BUT you ram guys seem to have explored
the climate control issue way more than any jeep guys.
As im in Australia, Infotainment wont sell their units here (as there different) according to them.
Wont even sell me the hivac wiring adapter.
The unit im looking at is out of a 2018 jeep gc.
From what i gather ill need the hivac unit and usb hub out of the 2018 and
possibly the wiring harness adapter?
I did see a post by a guy over here who fitted a Uaq unit out of a 2018 compass and tapped into the hvac wiring, got it to work but had an issue where he would shut the xar down and the unit would not restart up until he pulled the radio fuse to re boot it.
I see you make cable harnesses etc?
Any info greatfully accepted !!
My email is [email protected]
cheers

I would search this forum for "ending in AA".
