@Mpgrimm2 Did you ever try this with a Compass media hub? I have one at the moment and am using a series of USB cables and adapters to go from the extra mini USB plug in the back of the hub to connect to my phone. The phone will charge but it doesn't get recognized as a USB input on the radio (I have enabled the second USB input using Alfa). I'm unsure at this point if the Remote USB port (PN: 5UV99LXHAA) has some extra components that recognize when a source for CarPlay is connected to it, so it is not being recognized with my frankenstein USB cable or it it simply doesn't work in the Rams. Do you know if the Remote port is simply a pass through plug or does it have some extra circuitry built in?

Couldn't get it to work with the Single compass hub/Aux hub either in my 18ram when I still had it. Even used the OEM compass USB Hub to Hub cable stripped out of the compass console harness (from the 3 posts your quoted above) .. no go.
By all means give it another go round, there's always a possiblity I overlooked something

I was successfully able to Transplant a 2018 UCQ 8.4 screen over to a 2015 Ram! And luckily enough not a single issue.

At the time I wasn’t able to get the adapter wire harness from Mpgrimm2 but had all the information available to me to splice into the harness in the solder my own connections to create a new connector for the compass USB hub. You guys rock!

@Mpgrimm2 Do you happen to know what part number for the 8 pin TE connector is for connecting to the Media Hub? I was going to connect the power and was splicing in the wires from the power connection off the cigarette lighter.

Just wanted to update my earlier rant: everything is working fine now. I have a UAQ that I bought new, along with a media hub out of a boneyard Chrysler 200s (thanks to the national backorder on that hub: though the parts puller kinda buggered the edges up pulling it from the console of the 200s), and given some time/restarts of the truck, along with correcting a fuse issue, and now I've got everything working right. Both Android Auto AND Apple CarPlay are functional on the left (facing it) USB port, and I have my AAWireless unit plugged in there and working fine now. I'm expecting my heated seats/wheel functions to come back by morning (I pulled the Radio fuse by the brake booster while messing around with the USB hub and fuses in the PDC). I also made the change in AlfaOBD to set the media hub to read as 2 USB/Aux vice the original USB/SD/Aux. Final update of parts used:

New UAQ: 68331631AM
Used hub out of a 2017 Chrysler 200s: 68283703AA
Hub harness from KAOdTech

Weird note: per the Owner's Manual (both paper and digital for my 2015 2500), the USB fuse on my truck was supposedly F65 and F67 is listed as Bluetooth/Hands Free Module. But in my truck, F65 is just a spare port, and the F67 fuse was necessary to make the USB hub work. Just a strange thing to look out for if you're working with a media hub that doesn't seem to want to play nicely.

Last thing: I have a Compass hub (with a single USB port/Aux Port, PN: 5XG28DX9AC) handy if someone needs one. PM if you need/want it!

Weird question. If you watch the infotainment install video for their 4c upgrade. The guy shows an extension USB that connects to the back of the new CarPlay hub in the center console. It’s another USB hub with a long black cord, and the gray connector to plug into the open slot on the back of the new CarPlay hub.

Anyone know the part number to that usb extension?

I just ordered a new brand new UAQ 68331631AM, and will see if I have issues installing in my truck.

Curious as to what infotainment used to get theirs working? Talked with infotainment and as usual they did not give out the part numbers for that extension. Even though in the video he says it’s listed on the website, it’s not they say it’s included in every kit now. Looks like the same hub in the posts here, looks like the same exact stripped down compass harness (can see added electrical tape on the extension hub side of the harness), except it’s push pin ties are gray (maybe an older style).

I wonder if someone that bought the infotainment kit could chime in and confirm their CarPlay is working from that hub extension.

Side note mpgrimm2, I need some wiring made up for my rear heated seats, memory functions on drivers seat, and ATC conversion harness.

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport with 8.4 Radio/Heated Seats-Steering Wheel/Dual Climate Control. I have combed through about 100 of these posts and I have been trying to find either a UAQ/UAS Radio that would work with my truck. I understand that have to get the Infotainment Harness in order to get the heated seats soft buttons to work. Just want to make sure I get the proper radio to swap out. Thanks in Advance.

@Mpgrimm2 makes the harness's and sells them on his site and also on his preferred vendor section of the forum. Go to the main page of the forum and scroll down towards the bottom. He will hook you up with details on everything you need to upgrade your radio and he provides waaaayyyyyyy better support on installation if there are any issues.

What is the part number for this media hub? Does Android Auto/Carplay still work?
That 5th Gen USB hub doesn't seem to work consistently for everyone. Maybe a radio PN/SW version or something else going on. I also recommend you don't get an ebay knock off of one of the 3 verified USB Hubs mentioned in post 5. (Those are very hit or miss also)

The part number was P68397098AD but like Mpgrimm2 says some people have had issues with them. Android Auto works great but only from the right side ports. Left side seem to be charge only. Haven't done anything to try and change that or investigate it. I can't remember if I tried my wife's Apple phone or not, but I can next time I'm in the truck.

I'll give that a try and report back. Doesn't concern me too much as now I use the left side when I want to charge and keep my Motorola MA1 plugged into the left. Just wish the truck was smart enough to turn off the power to usb when the truck is shut off.

Man I can’t thank mpgrimm2 enough what a knowledgeable guy I had tons of questions and he answered them all without missing a beat also was able to talk to him about upgrading the interior of the tradesman to be more luxurious and he had all the right answers also I was not aware I would get a step by step pdf of how to do the whole upgrade but with that everything went together with ease thanks again Mike

Confirmed 68331631AM works in my 2014 ram 1500. Bought it brand new, took a full day for everything to sync over. Confirmed the 5th gen media hub with the usb c’s is also fully working and get CarPlay from both USB’s. (Waiting on my 200 hub to arrive) I do have a wireless CarPlay adapter inserted in one of the USB’s and confirmed I have wireless CarPlay working in my 2014.

Only issues are I’m coming from a factory installed 8.4 VP4 with factory backup camera display on the radio. I did add the cargo camera feature when I had the VP4. This gave me the cargo cam soft key and I could switch while on the cargo camera view to my backup camera view.

With the new radio I did retain the cargo camera soft key, but my cargo camera video is about 99% black and picks up some parts of the image but are dark blue. Example is driving with the cargo camera on I drive past a stop sign, I can faintly see the stop sign on the black video feed.

I also lost the option in the cargo camera screen to switch from cargo camera feed to backup camera feed.

And I do not have the backup camera soft touch icon. I did see some 16-17 trucks were able to activate the back up camera icon via alfaobd, but looks like 13-15 trucks will not?

Also heated/vented seats are grayed out, but I do have the infotainment harness on its way to fix that issue. They do work with the physical buttons.

Anyone have an idea on the cargo camera video quality issue? And how to get the backup cam icon back?
