I've seen many topics about using other tuners, I'm looking for a basic "Canned" tune for my Hemi that uses simple boltons in N/A form. I'm currently unlocked using HPT with MDS disabled and I'm using a Tazer to drive in Track mode. I'm looking for a tune that's designed for the 5.7 Hemi with basic bolt ons. I can't seem to find anyone that offers one using HPTuners..... Any recommendations would be appreciated.....

FRP offers canned tuning.

I purchased the canned tune from FRP, hopefully its worth the $450 for a 93 octane tune. It would have been cheaper to purchase a DiabloSport tuner like I did for my old 2006 Hemi. But for some reason many tuners left using HPT and started using Diablosport instead.....
I'm looking for a tuner for my kids 2006 Ram that I have currently unlocked and some basic adjustments using HPT, but it's so hard to find anyone now that actually uses HPT to tune the Hemi Rams....

I think you've got that backwards. 95% of the remote tuners I know about use HPT.

It's hard to find someone that still tunes a Hemi using HPTuners. I've searched online and contacted many known people and they stopped using HPT and most of the switched to Diablosport.

I messaged and paid FRP for a tune, now I'm waiting for a response. Hopefully it's better than the simple MDS disable and throttle response tune I did using HPT and using the Tazer I'm driving in "Track" mode......

Let me guess you contacted HemiFever and Greene,as they're about the only ones who are still using the archaic Diablo platform, all the good tuners are using HP.

Hemifever, yes as he tuned my Avenger before along with a few other tuners and it seems they all steered away from HPT. FRP messaged me and he will be working on my tune in the next day or so. Hopefully it will be a noticeable difference. 12 years ago I had the Diablosport Trinity for my 2006 3/4 ton Hemi and it was definitely a noticeable difference and the octane mode switching was convenient.

Not very many of the good tuners use Diablo anymore.Just go onto any of the Hi-po car facebook pages and you'll find lots of better tuners ,and they're all using HP.Diablo didn't get the nickname Diablows without a reason ;) :Big Laugh:

We'll, after several days of driving and only 4 tune revisions my truck runs unbelievable! Ryan is very precise on getting the best canned tune based on data logs you provide. My truck runs great now! At WOT my truck screams to 6100rpm before the shift and its volatile. My Pentastar 3.6 runs to 7000rpm at WOT and its smooth as can be, but my HEMI at 6100rpm is scary loud! It almost sounds like its ready to explode but it runs perfectly and hauls A$S. I was nervous at first listening to my HEMI scream that loud but a good operating HEMI with good oil can apparently handle 6500rpm with no problems.
The 5.7 truck cams are designed for low end TQ while the 5.7 car cams are designed for high end HP. So With the tune FRP installed I have the peak TQ available that can be made with 93 Octane and the most HP that can be made with the stock truck cam. My injectors are running at 75% duty cycle on 93 octane and I'm soon going to be upgrading to 6.4 injectors and getting another retune as I plan on installing the AdvanceFluidDynamics E85 conversion kit. This way I can use 93 octane or a blend all the way up to E85. No I don't plan on running boost, I'm staying N/A. One factor with my tuning though is my intake was actually working better than stock which caused more tuning to be addressed.
I'm using the Vararam intake and based on data logs their intake is definitely functional for cold air and the ramming effect does work based on datalogs as I was hitting 110kpa Vs the stock airbox at 100-103kpa. So with that said, yes FRP is great for a tune and is very knowledgable when it comes to the HEMI. As I mentioned before I'm new to the Hemi crowd and after reading about Flying Ryan Performance, I would definitely recommend him for a Hemi tune!

It's nice to read a post like that, to see someone really happy with their tuning endeavors! :boxing:

Did you do any sort of before and after statistics?? 0-60 times maybe? 1/8 or 1/4 mile times??

Nice write up! Glad it worked out. Sounds like you've been down this rabbit hole before. Do you keep factory PCM on a shelf an use a second for tuning or just tune the factory PCM (after unlocking)?

Been on the fence on this for a while and considering a PCM from a same year/trim 1500 from a junk yard if I do but will have to research further on this.

On my '16 (uses a different PN PCM for '16-'17 than your '15) I bought one off fleabay for $45 or something like that and used it for the unlock. OEM is still intact on shelf. Kinda give a sense of security if things go sideways on the tuned PCM.

Excellent! Our of curiosity to learn more of this, what was the process to 'unlock' the post '15 PCM? Or just send it to HP Tuners along with your VIN and a backup of my current PCM and they automagically take care of that part?

Thinking out loud (dangerous I know):
Or would I be responsible for taking a backup of my current PCM and preparing the "ebay-PCM"? (backup current PCM with Alpha, install ebay-PCM into truck and restore from Alpha? Or maybe HP Tuners provides a USB dongle to do this on a PC/laptop?

Looking forward to being enlightened on this process. Thank you in advance.

That's what I did with my '17
I actually drove around with the sticker under the back seat until I was comfortable with the tuned PCM

My PCM was sent out and unlocked while I did other work on my truck. Since I knew my truck was going to be down for a few days I knew I had time to send it out. I used Livernois Motorsports for my pcm unlock as I was going to be replacing my exhaust manifolds/plugs/wires/front brakes in the meantime. I already had the HPTuners MPVI2 with credits so I did not need to purchase a tuner, I just needed to find someone that's reliable with experience for a good tune.
Unlocking the PCM does not require you to do a tune backup as the unlocking service is hardware related and not software related. Once I got my PCM back from Livernois I was then able to log into the PCM to download a copy of the stock tune using HTP to save as a "just in case" backup.
As for the unlocking service Livernois Motorsports had good reviews and their price was more affordable than anyone else at the time(Oct2025) in the meantime other places may have changed their prices for the service but I recommend Livernois as my turnaround time was faster than me replacing two Hemi manifolds with broken bolts, ordering tools for the bolt extraction, changing plugs and coils and front brakes and calipers while dealing with daily life. By the time I was ready to start my truck the PCM was in my hands and ready to go.
As for saving your stock PCM just in case, that's up to you. You can chance ordering a used PCM to use for unlocking and a tune but keep in mind your getting a used PCM in unknown condition so that's another gamble. I used my stock PCM as I knew it worked and I have not had an issue in over 8 years using HTP for restoring a PCM to stock or modifying the tune. The other advantage I had was I was able to have the downtime without a PCM so spending the extra money on a PCM for me was not worth it.

There's a certain stretch of highway I use that you start with a 30mph roll and at a certain street sign you punch it and when you cross under a bridge that's a quarter mile. I can only test there a couple times before the police start patrolling so I only do it once and a while. In this stretch my truck used to peak at around 80mph in this stretch, I now let off at 90mph before this bridge because the HEMI is screaming at 6000rpm before the next shift and the HEMI screaming at 6000rpm gets me nervous...lol
This same stretch my tuned 3.6 Avenger hits 115mph and keeps climbing at this bridge point. My Avenger revs to 7000rpm with no problems and its smooth as can be. The Ram feels sketchy at 100mph especially with electric power steering unlike my Avenger with speed proportionate hydraulic power steering and much lower to the ground.
