Last night I started to hear a humming noise.. It sounds like it's coming from the alternator . Hear it when slowing down or stopped, also at first acceleration I also hear. It's actually a pretty loud noise, and it's getting annoying.

Can alternators do that? I'm gonna fill up my power steering fluid and see if that helps but it seems like it's coming from the alternator thanks in advance.

If I use a couple things in the truck like radio, air, and two windows at once my battery level will drop and go back up , must be alternator?

Check/clean all the connections first. Including batt terminals and fuses. Also check out the belt.

If the belt and the connections check out OK you can easily pull the alternator and take it to an auto parts store to have it tested. They might even be able to test it while its still inside the truck.

But would those things cause a humming noise ?

Currently that noise went away but battery level drops if I put a load on it and goes back to normal

Alternator can hum when a heavy load gets put on it. Dirty connections could add a lot of resistance. Also weak battery could suck power from it. Check out the obvious stuff like connections and belt, then get the alternator and battery load tested.

Okay thank you! The battery is only a year old so I hope that's not the issue

A lot of parts stores will test the alternator and battery for free right in the car.
