HVAC air inlet box

Hey ram people. My 2018 ram express has lost its recirculating air feature..

I checked the door that the recirculating actuator should move ( which is right above the cabin air filter behind the glove box) and it to no surprise has broken where it connects to the gear of the actuator..

Any body have any simple hacks to this or has had this happen. It appears the only way to replace it is by removing the entire dash.. what do you think would happen if I just propped it/ secured the door it moves to about the mid way position?

Not the best picture but I did tape it / secure a scrap of wood to it to its stuck in a 90% outside / 10% inside kind of set up..
