I only have it because I am known to lock my keys in my truck. The app on my phone allows me to unlock it. Plus I can track the wife when she has it.;)

Sadly my radio is from Canada so it doesn’t have any Uconnect features.

I love it personally. I use it to start my truck just about every day at work (I’m in southeast Texas so it gets well over 100 inside the truck), I use it to unlock the truck if I don’t have my keys on me, and I use it to send directions to the nav. I don’t see myself not renewing it, as I get my money’s worth out of it.

When I was in Alaska, I traveled (a lot) for work. It was nice that I could start the truck as soon as the plane landed, but that was the only thing that made it worth it for me. Now that I'm down south I don't need it. It was sketchy when I did have it so I didn't re-up. I do miss the comedy channel on XM, so I might eventually get that back up and running...

I like the ability to send locations to the truck and use the navigation when my phone doesn’t have coverage...that said I would only pay$50 a year for that convenience.

I do renew Sirius at the “please don’t cancel” rate of $5 a month.

For me it's nice but not worth paying for. As for Sirius, I don't use that either. I have my flash drive with plenty of music on it.

I have no problem with the speed of my RA4.

UConnect service is useless IMHO. The app itself was slow (I blame the app, not the head unit), half the time I could walk across our parking lot before the remote start request would get to the truck. No other features worth it, IMHO, except the custom voice text message responses, which should be free anyway since its a safety feature.

I have a Tradesman with the basic radio so all of this is foreign to me. Less crap to deal with and go wrong is the way I look at it.

After I saw the price for a subscription when I bought my 2014 2500, then again when I got my 2017 2500, I realized it really didn't have anything to offer me that justified the expense.

I have totally ignored UConnect from then on.

YMMV but I just didn't see the value for me.

I completely agree.

I think Ram gave up on the old Uconnect radios when they switched over to Sirius in 2018, RA4 to UAQ. When I purchased my truck I was promised Apple Carplay and Android Auto was coming. A few weeks after owning my truck the app that allowed me to use Pandora and other music app through my headset stopped working. When I contacted Uconnect I was told it was because they were always having issues with the software and decided to remove it because Android Auto and Apple CarPlay was coming ....that was over 3 years ago and still no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
The reason I say they gave up is because the 2018+ models have it.

I've been told it's because the hardware can't support it. This is total BS.

I also asked about buying a UAQ from the dealer and paying to have them install it as to not have any problems down the line if I need warranty work. The told me it wouldn't work which is BS also. It's the same size, same connector, and all my settings and everything else will still work; AC/Heat, heated seats/wheel, etc. All that info is stored in the BCM and not the radio.

I signed up for a UConnect trial recently when I bought my used 2016. I got a reminder that the trial is ending but I won't be paying to keep it. It has been extremely unreliable. Remote start is hit and miss with a strong cell signal. It also completely looses it's connection for no reason.

I have been on the phone with various levels of their Tech Support and tried resets in Dealer and Engineering mode at their direction. The last suggestion was make an appointment for a Dealer to look at the head unit. I am sure they would be happy to replace it out of warranty. I doubt that would fix the bad reliability. There is no way I will spend that much to test their hunch. I do have the latest software version update installed.

If UConnect worked reliably I would pay but most of the time it doesn't.

Others will disagree... For me, Unconnect is one of the most pathetic things created. I've said before, just let us connect our phones to the truck. Then I'll use my trusty Google Maps, Waze, etc. Yes the remote start and lock is ok cool--but really?

The 911 emergency button will work regardless of your subscription.

I've not renewed ever...
Are you saying that when I connect expires I will not be able to hook up my android and get maps on the screen?

What year truck do you own?

My 2015, I've never been able to connect and see my phone thru the truck. I can use Bluetooth and get the voice commands from my phone. But never to view my route from phone to truck. Assuming you have a stock radio.

He has a 2019 so he has the Android auto that's how he can display his phone/map on the screen. And no, that will not expire or require a subscription.

I have a 2019 and connect my I-phone through Bluetooth or usb. Do I need to renew my u-connect when it expires. I never use remote start or anything like that so is it worth the $$$$.
