Well LS engines are pretty amazing, and the aftermarket is basiclly.... endless. Be a bit of work and cash. It's all the endless little things that add up.

This will be a pretty large bill, so I have to ask what is the condition of your truck? Is it worth sinking a lot of money into buying doing a LS conversion? Its not just bolt in a motor. its motor, how to mount the motor, how to bolt it up to current trans or replace trans, then how to mount that trans, driveshaft, then standalone ECU as your current one wont work on the LS, tune, how to make gauges work or buy and mount digital display in cab, and so on. This is not a few thousand dollars...its much more. In the end would it be worthwhile to dump all that in or to just get a reman 4.7 for a whole lot cheaper.

whats 'blown' about your 4.7? has anyone taken it apart to figure out what failed? they VERY easy to work on and fix. Putting a LS in the truck will cost 10x what the truck is worth in the end,

The cheapest and easiest is just another 4.7. Hemi's aren't cheap but I would think keeping it Mopar with a hemi would be cheaper than changing everything over to an LS. As someone who is currently building an LS and likes unconventional builds, I would definitely keep it hemi.

What's the end goal? Are you trying to build a drag truck or is this a daily driver? LS swaps are popular for a reason, but you have to consider if the juice is worth the squeeze vs a rebuild or new crate motor for what you're actually using the truck for. Or...6.4L swap. :D

OK,I know nothing about LS as it an't mopar, other my son is using one in my 47 Chev he is restoring, it was one that was rebuilt and sitting.
He is also using the trans that came with the motor.
the only computer he will have to worry about the one he install in the original factory radio.
I presume there is something on the LS motor?

The other day he wanted to put power steering on his daily driver that was Dad's 53 IHC short box 1/2t. He had changed the rear end to better hiway gears.

Was going to update the front end, but needed a ps pump and box.
He spotted one on a rebuilt 454 sitting in the corner of his shop for a while,
So wth, out with the straight 6 and in with the 454.
think he is still waiting for a new front axle setup. Mustang

In your example it makes vastly more sense. If I had a C3 that needed an engine, I would absolutely drop an LS in there (specifically the 454LSX); yeah the LS swap has been done to death but works and fits like factory. LS engines are cheaper to buy and modify than any Mopar engine, however in a modern rolling computer network where everything is interdependent on damn near everything else, including the engine......it'd be the same if someone wanted to drop a modern hemi into a newer model Chevy 1500. It's a stupid idea and will cost way more than the vehicle is worth to make it work. With a 2011 4.7, it would be vastly easier (not easy, just easier than an LS) & cheaper to swap it to a hemi.

I’ve seen an 05 ram they ls swapped. Last year on OfferUp. Think it’s still on there. If it’s being raced on a budget I get it ls’ are a dime a dozen. So as fast as you blow it up you can swap it again. I’ll be doing a ls in my obs 1500. But I’ll keep my ram running on Hemi

Doing it for racing or just to "see what if" makes sense. Done all the time.

Heck, over the years I have done a small block V8 into a Chevy Vega, a 440 mag into a Dodge Dart, a 340 Mag into an older Valiant Signet 4 door, a 440 mag into a Dodge W150 Power Wagon and even a 351 Windsor into a Jag XKE.

All were fun (and very expensive to get right), but not very good for daily drivers, for obvious reasons. Plus, no computers involved, making them pretty straight forward, wiring wise.
