I'd rather have a Hellcat powered 1500 then a V10 Viper powered 1500, :waytogo:
Lol the supercharged v8 vs naturally aspirated v-10 high displacement engine??

I'd take the viper ram if i could that thing was a beast back in the early 2000s!

off topic, when you accidentally quote someone on here, how do you undo the quote? I tried refreshing, going in and out of the thread but the selected quote stays in the comment.
Is there a way to delete the quote?

If they put a decent crank in the Viper V10 maybe,as the stock cranks were notorious for going south in them.
They were great trucks back in the day,but any decently tuned bolt on 5.7 usually beats up on them at the track.
I had a procharged one come looking for my truck at the track a few years back, and it wasn't much of a contest,he was a full 1/2 second slower, and i'm only spraying a baby 70 shot of nitrous, lol. The guy was a blowhard a s s h o l e ,and after i laughed at his high dollar procharged 6 speed Viper truck,he went into a pout and left the track in a huff, and i've never seen or heard from him since, lol.

Lol well i meant if they put the v-10 from the last viper 3rd gen 13-17.

yes the original srt 10 ram had what 500 hp, and the stock 5.7 had 395 hp lets round it to 400..

so getting to an extra 100 wouldnt be a problem... but just having that v-10 would be something.

Is there a way to delete the quote?

On a PC or phone, click or tap the 3 dots in the upper right, click or tap on the brackets and they'll turn orange.

You can delete portions of the quote or the entire thing if desired.

Then click or tap the orange brackets to return to the normal mode.

Thank you!

That solves about 80% of the problem.. the only thing is it still say post reply even after i delete it! Like it's expecting me to finish typing something! LOL

Is there a way to exit the reply box as well?

In other forums you can just click cancel, but i dont see a "X" or cancel.
One solution i was thinking about was maybe typing something, submitting the post... and then deleting it... but i dont see a delete button either.

Only "Save" and cancel after editing it, but no delete button.

Agreed. There was a discussion on the Viper truck forum recently about retrofitting an 8HP90 into an SRT quad cab and the fact that no one has tried it yet. The discussion then progressed to a last gen Viper engine swap (640 hp NA) with an 8HP90.

Not to mention the 8HP blows that old 6-speed away. They were cool trucks for their day, but the performance wars have not been kind to older vehicles.

The regular cab shortbox SRT10's,the ones known as the "Viper Truck" were all 6 speed manual transmissions, the longer cab versions used a 4 speed auto RFE varient

A 4-speed. My doesn't that seem quaint by modern standards. I see C&D got a 5.6s 0-60 and 14.2 quarter mile out of one. Respectably quick, but a newer Hemi Ram with 3.92 rear end isn't that far off.

The 8 speed R/T's are about as close as you can get to the Viper truck as most of the Viper trucks were loaded with options, and depending on DA the majority of them will run in the 13's. My little regular cab 4X4 with 3.21's and the 8 speed ran 14.1's at 3500+ft ,back when it was new and still stock. With nothing more then a tune and long tubes it ran 13.40's and was good for 155 mph to,which is what they pulled out of the Viper truck for top speed

Did they make an 8-speed R/T? I thought that trim was discontinued prior to the transmission changeover.

Yes the R/T was available all the way to 17,then they called it a Sport again. Up till then the loaded up with options regular cab shortbox 4X4's were usually designated as Sports, and if you ordered a 2 wheel drive regular cab shortbox Sport it automatically became an R/T .There were a few variations and trim levels, but if you wanted the body coloured bumpers/mirrors etc. you had to order either an Express with not as many options,or a Sport / R/T if you wanted all the options

The 45 RFE transmission is a brute, in design. I'm impressed. Having been an automatic transmission specialist on mainly GM & Ford units for a long time, I'm impressed that FCA put these beasts into such small chassis as the Jeep Grand Cherokees and 1/2 Ton chassis Ram 1500's. It'd obvious to me, from studying the internals of one, the design has signs of Mercedes engineering. This trans was in production from 1999 thru 2018.

German engines may be finicky and maintenance intensive, but they do know how to build a good transmission. It's nice because Mopar generally makes good engines, but they never could figure a transmission out.

The Nag1 was definitely German engineered and is a far superior transmission to the RFE which was originally designed to go behind the real early 4.7's. They should of used the Nag1 in the trucks instead of the light duty RFE
