Not sure how Ram handles things, but I had a Dodge dealer (back when that was a thing) buy my truck back, matching the provisions of the lemon law. My guess is they didn't want it recorded as a "lemon," so they avoided it by simply purchasing it without making me go through the lemon law process. Have to admit, they were somewhat unusual in that they seemed to be genuinely trying to take care of the truck's issues while I owned it, and they didn't give my grief about buying the truck back. It may have been their idea, even.

This is in contrast to the horrific dealer and corporate experience I had with another domestic manufacturer that I will never buy another vehicle from again.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for FCA corporate to get back in touch with me. I'll admit, I work for a huge global company that makes consumer and other types of products, and still not as big as a car company. The size of a company alone is an impediment to getting anything done, so I'm expecting the worst, but maybe I have the right person's ear. I'm really sick over this having spent nearly $60k on a vehicle because our family was growing and having to deal with this right as our new son is about to be born. I hope they have a little empathy.

My sympathies to you; I hope you can get a decent resolution. Right now, the newest rig I have is my '03 truck. I got so sick of hearing, "We can't seem to duplicate the issue." on both foreign and domestic vehicles under warranty that I really don't want to deal with newer vehicles and dealerships right now.

@fotomatt1 - I'm in CA (embarrassing, I know) and I purchased a brand new Colorado LT crew cab. Had numerous issues from the onset. After nearly 2.5 years of dealing with everything from paint issues, rattling airbag packs in steering wheels (4 to be exact), transmission shifting issues, bluetooth issues, seat issues, driveline vibrations, etc they (GM) offered to repurchase my vehicle. They gave me every penny back (all fees, interest, etc). It came with 2 years of free maintenance so in the end all I paid for was gas and insurance. I then purchased a 2017 Colorado Z71 which I had for a year and a half. It had the new 8 speed trans and it actually drove very well. There were a few issues with it (minor) and one of them they couldn't fix. I blame much of it on the dealer not pursuing the issue with GM. I called GM to light a fire under the dealer's @$$ and after a trip back to the dealer, GM called me and offered me the choice to accept a replacement or a repurchase. I was floored. I took the repurchase and went off to the nearest RAM dealer.

I have to say GM has incredible customer service. They initiated the process and walked me through the entire thing. Could not have been easier. Not even a whiff of an attorney. All auto manufacturers need to recognize the efficacy of GMs program and follow suit. I really do hope FCA does right by you. Please keep us posted.

I hope it hasnt turned you away from RAM as mine has been great. With all the problems you went through-you have been way more patient than I would have been--for me if the doors werent lining up and flush and had to be opened from the outside-I would have thrown back the keys and demanded a new one. And then all the other issues you had--I wouldnt trust that truck to not have many more issues down the road.---Good luck Buddy!!

Demanding a new one doesn’t work once it’s been titled. And interestingly, it’s been in the same spot since Friday as of 6pm today and nobody from the dealer will contact me back and FCA didn’t contact me today as they had promised. I’m filing for Lemon Law tomorrow morning. Will not be replacing with another FCA vehicle.

Very unfortunate for sure, was thinking of getting a 5th gen seeing my daughter wants a pink Ram. Figure I just wrap mine and start over. But man this is really depressing. Its has 4x4 roll it through a window at dealership say the gas pedal stuck. Now buff that out......lol. JK.

Lol. Also think it’s funny that they’re letting it sit in a handicap spot.

Yeah its too bad. I know everyone says the grass isn't necessarily greener but I've seen way too many instances of this here on the forum.

Very frustrating situation, how many miles are on the clock if you dont mind me asking? Also is this the only dealer that has serviced the Ram?

Something just doesn't add up..issue after issue and dealer nor FCA does nothing?? I've been a auto mechanic all my life and if a customer keeps coming back for the same problem/s it will be addressed. There's gotta be more to this story than what your saying.

12,500 miles. Started having trouble the day I purchased it though. Yes, same dealer as it’s the only one somewhat close to my house. I don’t have time to keep visiting different dealers hoping they can figure out what’s wrong with my truck with a ton of different problems.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Two things do puzzle me:

1. When you discovered something didn't work 30 minutes into owning it, why didn't you just turn around and bring it back then? If I buy a new vehicle and something doesn't work, I don't care if it's a windshield washer nozzle, I'm not taking possession of the vehicle. Because one of two things has happened in that instance:
  • Either the dealer didn't bother doing the full inspection on the vehicle, which is supposed to ensure that all of the features of the truck work, or
  • The dealer DID do the full inspection of the vehicle, knew something wasn't working, and let you take the vehicle anyway.
In both cases, the dealer would not be doing their job and I would not take the truck.

2. Where do you live in Lehigh Valley where you're over an hour away from a Ram dealership? I lived in that area and it's pretty urban.

Man, that sucks! For these reasons, I always ends up buying new at or near the end of a generation's life cycle. Last 3 vehicles were 2013 Subaru Forester XT, 2017 Nissan Frontier and now my 2018 1500. All came with huge discounts because updated models hit the floor AND had the kinks worked out. However, I wonder how this is gonna work for me with the new EcoD. Maybe I can wait until 2021 or 2022. But targeted ads on the internet call my name every day!

Here's my explanations:

1) I took delivery on a Saturday afternoon, and by the time I got to the shopping mall and realized that the passive lock / unlock didn't work it was already after 5pm and the dealer was closed.

2) I live in Easton, but purchased this vehicle in Souderton, as the local dealers didn't have anything in stock that I wanted and weren't willing to work with me on price on an order. I get it serviced close to home.

I had a Forester XT (2009, and 2017)...plus lots of other Subies. Was unfortunate that I couldn't fit 3 child seats in the back. Still no contact from FCA or the dealer today and my truck is still in the same spot this morning. WTF? Lemon law case filed.

I sure wish U well here. Looking at yer truck scares me, lol, since mine same color, but alas lower trim (Big Horn). I am fortunate as dealer I have here and my SA are good. Even when truck went in for the (2) recalls and they did the hood TSB also, no questions asked, they gave me a loner for the evening (no $$$$$$$), so I am FORTUNATE.

Good Luck FOTO

You should send a friend in asking if the red truck in the parking lot is for sale.

Still in a handicap spot without a permit?

I don’t want to inflame things. I’m sure it will get worse when they find out I filed. I’ll swing past on my way home tonight to see if it’s been moved. No risk of a ticket here as it’s on their own lot...just find it funny that they’re parking customer vehicles there.

It might just be my tinfoil hat but part of me wonders if they *wanted* you to file lemon law. Because they can drag their feet during that process, too.

I honestly think they're too big to even think about it like that. They probably have hundreds of complaints like this a day. The dealer doesn't care to be honest, as they are not implicated in this in any way.
