So I have the infamous P0307 code for misfire in cylinder-7. I have been working on diagnosing my 2009 RAM 1500 QC 5.7L HEMI and have some interesting notes. Mileage at 132,000K. Even with the code, the engine is not running harsh. A very slight shake as the engine idles, and no lose of power or any other symptoms while driving. No HEMI-tick. I will try to attach a video sound clip later. I have the usual daily driver, driving style.
So I have been reading some of the boards and have some odd questions to the RAM community…
1. Given that there are two spark plugs per cylinder, could one of the plugs be going bad and register the misfire, given the symptoms?
2. Are the symptoms similar to a coil pack going out?
3. Could the issue be gapping the spark plug incorrectly?
I will add that I recently bought the vehicle used from a dealer, and have no clue on when parts were replaced. Looking for some input, as I 'attempt'
to keep this fix at the lowest cost-level possible.
