I see you have a tuner. Did you get it retuned after the install?

Before numbers is whatever every other stock 5.7L RAM with the 8 speed dyno's...usually just over 300 rwhp......I have the following performance modifications, in the order of effectiveness:

Diablo Intune Custom 93 Octane Tune
ARH Longtubes
185 DEG F Thermostat
Mopar CAI

You should add the 185 DEG thermostat - you will probably dyno roughly the same, maybe slightly higher with your throttle body...The thermostat is cheap and effective...I also have the Vararam, but rarely us it, and would make no difference on the dyno...

Did the sound get objectionably louder? Post a nice little video :)

Noticeably louder, but in no way objectionably louder...the big difference, besides the header versus exhaust manifold, is the diameter of the stock cats versus the diameter of the ARH cats...the ARH cats are basically a wide spot in the exhaust pipe...

I will make a video for you early next week - keep in mind I have the Sport exhaust...which is now a little Sportier.

Not very scientific there haha. Factory output can vary considerably from vehicle to vehicle and dyno to dyno. Having a dyno showing where you're at is great, but no the best for hard proof of the return on your investment without a comparable before dyno.

You are absolutely correct - but since I was just doing long tubes headers, for me, it was a guaranteed ROI.

How did you get a 185* thermo. Thought they only made a 180* for us.

Nice numbers though although a before dyno would be more telling of the actual gains.

Very nice....bet you could have got another 5hp with that coating...lol. Glad to see you got them installed. Any major difficulties when putting them in?

Good run. You are right on track with what we are seeing from trucks with your mods. Next time, throw that Vararam on at the dyno. I think you would be surprised at the gains. The short and straight intake tube does show gains on the dyno, even if you are sitting still.

Does your tune include any changes for the transmission? How is the 8spd doing with your mods?

Glad to see people modding these 8spd trucks, makes me feel a bit more confident in doing it myself later down the road.

Alot of 180* rated thermostats run at 185 actual. Ive had a Jet Tstat on my last truck that did it, and now the Motorcraft part from Autozone runs at 185.

DOH! Yes - 180 DEG thermostat...my temp always says 185 - 188 with the new thermostat.

No difficulties at all...the drivers side is a little tighter than the passenger, but other than that, no problems...took my guys about five hours on a lift. You should drive up and get these from MOE's...I love the way my truck pulls now.

Good numbers!

But just to confirm;
No exhasut and no throttle body?
Just whats listed?

Just what is listed...no other performance mods.

The custom tune is motor only - nothing done to the 8 speed...

Do you have your fan temps turned down?

Yeah mine stays around 180 to 185 I guess, of course when it gets hot here. It will jump up.

When its cool it won't cover over 181 unless sitting.

I don't see a benefit to running a diff t stat. I'll run it where dodge designed it to run.
I mean what's five degrees diff worth in hp?

Your actually dropping down to 185 from the OEM 215 thermostat. I'd think running your motor 30° cooler would help in more areas than just performance. I'm waiting to install my thermostat for when I put the vararam in.
