Gonna have to put my max 360 radar detector in the new ride but I’m intimidated by all that plastic up there around and behind the rear view mirror...lol.

Thanks for the bump JB, I forgot I posted this thread but I will say that I had to order a new blendmount and wiretap so hopefully this weekend I’ll be getting my bearfinder put in the new hotrod...[emoji41]

There’s an older DIY thread somewhere, hopefully someone has a better, easier way to explain how to remove the covers to gain access and hardwire it

Found this for you....

"You first remove the top portion of the mirror mount. There's a hole on both sides up top and 2 tabs on the bottom. All you have to do is press/squeeze the top portion around the neck area and you can pull back to remove the piece."

And just to verify, that post that was linked, on my 2018 the black wire was the ground and the pink w/yellow stripe was the switched 12v.

I need to do this soon. The past 2 months in the RAM is the longest I've went without a radar detector in one of my vehicles in a long time. I always used a cheaper mirror mount off of Amazon, but I may have to check out that blend mount, it looks nice.

They’re a little on the expensive side at nearly a hundred bucks a piece but they’re well worth it in my opinion.

What year model pickup you have? I have a blendmount and wire tap for sale that was in my old 2008 Ram that I need to get rid of. Heck, the blendmount anyways, probably would’ve worked in my ‘18 but I was just going off what the website’s recommendation was. My new one has an extra pivot point that I figured would be needed to get around that big plastic piece in front of the mirror but I wouldn’t be surprised if my old one would in fact work. The wire tap would have been a little short, tho. It’s a good thing I followed the manufacturer’s advice and went with the longer cable.

This was a lot of help, was having a hell of a time getting the plastic off around my mirror! Now that I did the dry run, will have to do the real deal when my blend mount comes in (on backorder). Going to check with my voltmeter on which wire is which (it's going to be black and pink with yellow stripes)...that makes it so much easier!!!! Thank you guys so much for the information and all the pictures.
One question: What pin size did you have to use out of the Mirror Tap kit?

you guys are fortunate.....I live in the ONLY state in the country that does not allow radar detectors. Virginia has always had them illegal and you cant even have them in a box in the trunk!!

Last hold out in the country and it is infuriating!!

Gosh, that was thee years ago when I did that and I honestly came remember. I think I just tried all of them and settled on the one that it just right without having to force it. Must be good because I haven’t had a single issue.

Probably the biggest thing over there that’ll get you in trouble if you decided to run one is their use of the radar detector detectors so in that case, a lot of people that I’ve talked to on other web forums will use either the older escort Redline EX or that new escort Redline 360. I think those two are really the only true stealth radar detectors on the market but that Uniden R3 I think it is, even though it’s not necessarily sold as a stealth radar detector, there’s been YouTube tests on it to that showed it’s detection range from a radar detector detector is only within about 3 feet.

Yep....that and the fact that every city runs vehicles with license plate reader cameras installed on the trunk lids...they just drive around and video plates then, they are run back thru their laptops into the database to run them...these same cars have radar detector detectors in them and even if your not using it, if its powered on, and I don't know how, but they can tell from driving past you...and then your busted. Courtesy of the *********-wealth of Virginia...

That’s why I recommended the radar detectors that I said because at least the two models from escort are a true undetectable radar detector. Go on YouTube and watch a couple videos from a guy that goes by the handle Vortex Radar and you’ll see what I mean.

But as far as whether or not here in the state I live in, since radar detectors aren’t illegal to use, they are however illegal to use in a semi just because they’re illegal to use anywhere in a semi.... that’s why I run the older Redline EX because it’s undetectable even if there ever was a DOT
bear out here that might be running a Spectre elite radar detector detector.

The government is there to protect you. they know wht is best. You must submit to the better good.

I've never run radar detectors. In the truck hauling a trailer, I run the speed limit if traffic allows. When not towing, I run 8 over or with traffic.
