To everyone installing the OEM BACK UP CAMERA ADD ON KIT , You do not have to read 400+ post here , just go to Mpgrimm2 s POST # 10 and you'll be fine .

This is a good kit with decent instructions .
I personally rate it a 4 out of 10 for difficulty for your av r rage DIYer.

If you can splice two wires ,( solder or environmental splice) count to thirty three & know your alphabet A-J and flexible enough to reach arms fully extended and install tie wraps and operate a screwdriver , then you are capable of installing this kit !

With the above said two areas that seems to confuse some .
#1 THE BCM C-5 CONNECTOR ( THIS CONNECTOR IS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED WITH AN "E" ) LOL! , this confused me , there you go !

#2 The Radio C-1 connector location 31, 32 ,33 , to verify you are in the correct sockets (LOOK @ THE MALE PINS ON THE BACK OF THE RADIO. PIN 31 IS CLEARLY MARKED ! I did this to verify because the picture in the instructions was a bit confusing.

Nice kit , my.02

not yet. I ran out of time. I used your suggested checklist and everything is fine other than verifying the connection at the back of the radio. I'm quite sure that is ok, but will double check.

The one question I have is with the under Dash connection where you add the connector to harness "A". That harness connector has maybe 5 or 6 wires but the radio extension harness that plugs into that and then goes to the back of the radio, only has three wires. Wondering if those connectors have internal connections bridging several wires. not sure why there would be so many extra wires run in the body harness and then into that connector.

That conector has extra wires because the body harness A is used for TWO diff kits , one for radio display and one for a mirror display.
That's why you don't use the "yellow" wire , for the mirror kit the Yellow wire also connects to the BCM @ a diff connector C-7 socket 6 if my memory is correct .

That's why I suggested to ensure @ the radio harness connector / Body harness A connector to ensure the three wires leaving the connectors ( going to the radio ) are the same on both sides of that connection.
Ensure the connector you populated has the following
Cavity A = Grey/Blue
Cavity D = Grey/Orange
Cavity E = Bare shield wire

The other wires do not matter , hell for a radio install you could cut them off !

Equally important is to ensure the factory built Radio harness B was populated properly @ manufacturing by making sure the wire colors are @ the same locations from the connector you populated above to the factory Radio Harness B , continuing to the radio , make sure :
31 = Grey / Blue
32 = Grey / Orange
33 = bare shield wire

Good luck Sir , Hope this helps !

OK, it works now. I had 31, 32, 33 in the slots above those in the 52 connector. Thought they were all the way at the bottom right, but they were one row up. Camera works now.

Considering the diagram in instructions showing where 31, 32, 33 should be installed are wrong, I rate this at a 10 out of 10 difficulty. It simply will not work when installing per the instructions. That step wasted about 3 hours of my time. Otherwise, the install was very simple. If it were not for this forum, I'd be stuck calling who knows how many people at FCA trying to figure this out. Thanks for everyone posting up here and especially RLK and Mpgrimm2 !!!

Glad everything worked out for ya !
It depends how you look at the diagram for the C-1 connector , it's reversed , and confusing ...
I still think this kit is a 4 out of 10 .

To all , reference Mpgrimm2 post 10 , and consider this : 3 areas to be careful ...#1 THE BCM C-5 CONNECTOR IS CLEARLY LABELED AS " E " , # 2 THE RADIO C-1 s. 31,32 ,33 , " LOOK @ THE RADIO SIDE ( PIN 31 IS CLEARLY MARKED ) USE THIS AS A REFERENCE , TO DETERMINE WHERE TO STICK YOUR WIRES IN THE C-1 CONNECTOR .
#3 when you populate the " supplied connector " make sure when you are done that the 3ea wires going to the radio are in line BY COLOR AND LOCATION as the wires you just populated! !

Enjoy your back up camera!

Yes, I have the grid lines. Thanks again!

May want to make another thread about this a sticky but delete 46 pages :) and just have the "tricks" / clarifications / daigrams you guys have noted on one or two pages. I'd say a 3 or 4 out of 10 if the diagram was correct. It is a good option to have and glad I was able to do it with OEM parts.

I'll have no excuse if I back into anything now...

Thanks for your response !
3-4 out of 10 , I whole hardedly agree Sir ,

If you take away 1EA task that
( you have an issue with)
the overall task becomes a 3-4 as a posed to a 10+ ...

The #1 thing a ALL should do is refer to Mpgrimm2 post #10 ! ! !

You do not have to read 400 +post , just read post #10 and it's references. ..

Anyone who has Qs or issues with installation of this OEM back up camera add on kit on a Ram 2013 + read Mpgrimm2 post # 10 and it's references.

Good luck gentleman !

I have read through this thread and can not find the answer to my unique situation. I have a 2013 express with the RA1 radio. I upgraded to the RA2 radio which was pulled from a family members truck that currently had a backup camera installed. I installed the RA2 radio and backup camera kit 82214240. All of the settings for the backup camera are currently on the RA2 radio. I currently get a blue screen when placing the gear in reverse. NOTE: I have not had the dealer flash my truck for backup camera. My question is, Do I still need to get the flash from the dealer in order for the camera to work? Or is it that my wiring is not correct?

You do not need the flash , your truck is already flashed for some reason , something with your wireing , I wish I could help more now , but I just shot a doe 15 MIN AGO with my PSE BABY !

FOUND HER !

Buddy I'll help you later , give me 4 hours or so to take care of this kill .

You have a simple problem , likely 3 possible places .
#1) Double check you power & ground @ PDC
#2 Double check the radio harness under the dash ++ make sure the 3 wires going towards the radio match up with the 3 coming in
#3) Double check the 3 wires @ radio C-1 connector #31,32,33 . LOOK @ THE BACK OF THE RADIO # 31 IS CLEARLY MARKED ! sorry don't mean to yell , but this is likely your issue , Very easy to get wrong ...
I'll check back with you later !

I agree with RLK. If you have the blue screen when in Reverse that says "Check Entire Surroundings" or similar, then the flash magically came over with the radio. Who knew?
(Note: Your may need a dealer XAC flash, if you update your radio Firmware later via usb Drive but that is really just a guess.)

So, that leaves a wiring issue. Please, please make sure you take a look at the references in post 10 if you haven't already and save/download the add-on kit wiring schematic I posted. You will need it as a reference to troubleshoot against the directions. Make sure you read the linked posts: 19+, 25, 26, 280, & 290 and use those to double check your wiring.

Common areas that the wiring may be wrong: 3 wires at the back of the C1 radio connector, wires at the i550 tailgate chassis Cable A connector, and the wires at the kit's new Chassis cable A "cab" connector at the footwell.

We also need to know what model of truck you have (1500 vs 2500, etc) since there may be a difference at the rear tailgate's i550 connector.

PS: Don't forget to check the 10Amp fuse in the PDC.

OK. Then you shouldn't have the tailgate connector extension.

Have you read the posts I mentioned and verified your wiring against the drawings and actual pictures yet?
