Only way to do this is by wiring in a separate switch that is not tied onto a 12 volt keyed source. Factory fan is wired to a keyed ignition wire, so if the ignition is turned off, it kills power to the fan.
I did this on my Z28. Just need a toggle switch and a power lead that is always on.
This works even better at cooling while at the track if you have an electric water pump that you can keep running too! Now I wonder if Meziere sells an electric water pump for our trucks? It was an honest 10-11 hp gain on the dyno.
