I have a 21 Ram with the 12” display. I just got a new iPhone 14 and I can’t get it to connect reliably to CarPlay. I’ve tried different cables, deleting the phone, forgetting the car and so on. The only time I’ve gotten it to work was when I restarted the phone but it only worked once.

The phone charges when I plug it in but the system doesn’t show anything on the usb connection.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Restart your iPhone and your car. Make sure that Siri is on. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled. The last thing I did was reboot the computer: Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons (or tuner and volume knob) simultaneously for thirty seconds. Release the buttons. After the reboot, I had to do was rerload Carplay.
