Just bought a 2001 Ram 1500 WS and it may need an engine. I found a 3.9 Engine but it’s from a Dodge Dakota. Are these the same engines? Year differences that will work in the 2001 Ram?
This is only a fair GUESS
The Intake manifolds & things that screw into Block,
may be different
The best thing to do, is to place both of the engines side by side.
If anything appears different, you need to use the Dodge Ram parts, because those parts will work best with the Dodge Ram's computer, etc.
Dodge Rams 1500s used the same 3.9L from 1994 - 2001
( earlier Dodge Rams may have also used the 3.9l )
To the best of my knowledge all of the 3.9 magnums were the same. I can't remember what else they put them in but I know they were used in both the Ram and the Dakota
im sure your aware the 3.9 was only a v6 and didnt have a ton of power. atleast not by todays standards. ive no idea if it would fit in your 1500. they were common in dakotas
This truck is the 2001 WS model , standard engine is the 3.9
I’m good with the V6 for running into town , I own a 2023 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7 for anything else I do.
