Thanks all. I have been towing trailers for over 30 years so no worries there. Just since my truck was 6 years old and due for a new one soon anyway figured I'd go bigger. I used to tow my racecar years ago with 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons but this boat is the heaviest I have towed. My son also has a 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK camper that is about 6700 dry that I have towed with my 1500. He towed it a couple weeks ago with a company owned Duramax but he is looking to buy a new Cummins soon.

BTW-anyone have any issues with height in any parking garages with these? Seems this sits about 4" higher than my 1500

Looking to purchase the new Ram 2500 Laramie with 6.4, 4.10.
Will be towing 9000 lb boat/trailer combo.
Do you guys recommend the 4.10 over 3.73?
Thanks!

Is there a big mpg difference?
Thanks!

Funny you ask that...I'm considering moving up to a '17 2500 Tradesman CTD with the off-road package and found in these hallowed forums a debate about heights on these trucks. It appears that package adds two inches of elevation compared to a 2500 without it. I know you're asking about the difference between a 1500 and a 2500, but had to mention what I learned last night. I didn't find anything about commercial parking garage issues, but now that I think about it, one of the RF posters said he had to tweak his garage door trim to get his off-road package-equipped 2500 through the door.

My truck is leveled on 35's and when I have to park at the local hospital the antenna will scrape on structural beams but thankfully the cab still clears. There are some garages I wouldn't even attempt although you usually have more clearance then it appears from the driver's seat.

Thats why i asked that. There are a few that my 1500 seemed to be very close but when i saw other 1500's in there they had a bunch of room...lol

interesting that the outdoorsman sits higher. mine is higher than i thought it would be. i measured my receiver and its about 4-5" higher than my 1500. be curious to see how my boat sits when its hooked up. mine is an SLT Outdoorsman off-road package if that matters

Congrats, I just traded up to an 18 2500 outdoorsman on Saturday too. Only put about 75 miles on it but love it so far!

So bought my 2013 1500 Expess 6 years ago and bought a new boat last August. Turns out the new boat weighs about 9000lbs with trailer and my Express with 3.55's was only rated for 8600lbs. It tows it just fine but it was about time to trade up so...

Went and looked at a 2018 2500 Laramie the other day but more than I wanted to spend. Found a 2018 2500 SLT Outdoorsman with 7900 miles on it. Has the touchscreen, nav, etc. Seems like everything but heated seats and leather/sunroof. Has the 6.4 Hemi with 4.10's

Called yesterday and got pre-approved. Made the deal today and supposed to pick it up Monday.
Welcome to the club of “real truck” owners!!! I’m sure you will love it!
Just don’t expect it to ride like a car, it’s actually a truck!

I have a 3” lift on mine with 35’s and I fit in about half the garages around town. But nowhere close to fitting in my home garage.
