I've added HID's to two other vehicles, so I'm not a complete noob, but I have a couple questions since this is my first Ram.

When I first test drove my truck (used '12 R/T), it had HIDs in the highs, lows and fogs but the highs wouldn't work for some reason. I told the dealer this and asked them to remove the kit from only the highs but they took them all out. No big deal. I got everything in a box. Not knowing where the kit came from and to avoid future headaches, I ordered a low kit and just bulbs for the fog lights that I'll use some of the ballasts that came with the truck. I'll keep the halogens in the highs.

What concerns me is the lights seem to have some sort of delay built in. I can start the truck, back out of my garage and then the auto headlights will come on. I know this is sometimes installed to give the ballasts a second or two to receive full power and not flicker. Or is this a Dodge thing?

Second, I ordered h10's for the fogs. Was that right?

Matt - you ordered everything correctly for what you mentioned here.

Glad I saw this, I was about to reply to your order and ask about the random bulb order there. ;)

I've not experienced a delay in the start up on these, you will have a slight delay on the shutting off (heads only) due to the capacitor. Seems odd.........I don't use Auto, but on my wife's van we do.......and it comes on in the garage......no delay.

My auto headlights are a bit delayed coming on as well, certainly not instantaneous as if I'd turned them on manually.

Yeah, these take a noticeable amount of time to turn on. Like 10 seconds or so.

Just hoping if this was an installed delay it won't interfere with anything.

Oh the joys of a used vehicle :)

With the auto function on my headlights (turning the switch) they are pretty instant, no noticable delay. I also have disabled the headlights on approach so once I get in the truck and start it (even after being remote started) I will turn the switch to auto and the lights come on, no real delay. I wonder if there is something you can see attached to the wires when you install the new lights, might be something you could re-do?

I'll definitely be looking for anything out of the ordinary when I install this.

I really don't mind the delay. It's not like I'm firing up the truck and immediately entering the interstate. Just hoping it doesn't affect anything negatively.

Whoever had this truck before me was definitely an enthusiast. The head unit has been "lock picked" and I have DVD headrests...in a regular cab :D

Hi All,
Has anybody looked through evic to see if there is some obscure setting somewhere that is causing this difference? Just askin' cause mine are pretty instant. Of course I don't have HID but still.

I have a 2013 Sport with factory projectors and want to add HID lows. Can you tell me what kit I need to order? Hoping for plug and play. Maybe a link to the kit?

Finally got around to installing my kit and they are awesome!

The install was a little intimidating but I took my time and they came on with the first flip of the switch...well, at least the lows.

As I mentioned in my original post, I only got bulbs for my fogs and decided to use some ballasts I had laying around. Well, I've tried 2 of my 6 spare ballasts and the drivers side fog will still not come on.

I have no relay I the fogs but have read that many don't with no issues.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just to be clear, MY RETRO SHOP PRODUCTS WORK FLAWLESSLY.

You most likely need a wiring harness for the fogs, to get the direct power from the battery.

I've done the same thing like you on many of my other cars with no problems, but these Mopars seem to be real finicky with HIDS. So I used a wiring harness for the fogs and headlights. Works fine.

Thought I'd update this thread with some pics showing the light output.

This first pic shows why I decided to upgrade the fogs. I drive a lot of country roads and these really light up the ditches and whatever is running around in them.

Lows and fogs:

Fogs only:

The fogs might need to be adjusted, but overall I'm very happy with these kits. I've had HID kits in the past and none have been as well put together as these. If you take your time, watch the videos and read the tutorial on their page, it's not too difficult. I took my time at the end and really made sure all of my cables and components were secure and out of the way of anything that might interfere with them.
