Complete waste of money with zero benefit. You won’t gain any MPG or power out of it. But you will allow more dirt into your engine.

Stick with the OEM mopar air filters they are perfectly fine

Personal opinion the k&n filter is garbage. People like the brand green filters more now. I used to like washable filters but after seeing the amount of dust that can actually get through and if improperly washed and oiled can cause issues as well. I’ve reverted back to using paper filters. The stock filters flow well enough for stock trucks and are way better at filtering. In the 4th gen trucks we are able to swap the lower portion of the box out and use the ecodiesel/6.4 box and the larger filter that those trucks use as well which aids in increased airflow for slightly modified vehicles.

An intake is a piece of the puzzle. An intake along wont gain you much but couple that with more mods like exhaust tune etc... it helps. if you plan to do an intake look at some of the other brands like AFE, Volant, etc...message me if you would like a quote on anything.

K &N filters are trash quality. They don't filter the air as well and have no improvement on air flow, hp or mpg. They're all hype. Sure, they have a little benefit over a 1965 air cleaner, but are nothing compared to today's computer designed air flow systems. If Dodge would install a 400hp motor, worth thousands of dollars into a vehicle, an aftermarket is not going to pass the OEM filter on metric.

I guess i drank the cool aid so ill give my opinion lol. I threw in a k&n drop in filter. I wash it once a month as i frequent dirt roads. Almost 3 years now and i have had no issues. My throttle body dosent get overty dirty. The impurities in the TB seems to accumulate relatively at the same rate than before the swap. when i clean my filter i always clean the air intake sensor at the same time, again, because i live on a dirt road so i cant really attest to long term particle build up.

The only difference ive found really is the sound it makes at WOT is a bit deeper. Im not to sensitive to small gains in HP or MPG because the way i drive differs from day to day. One day im getting up to speed as fast as possible and others i just grandma it.

All in all, no noticeable difference in performance and has not attributed to any malfunctions as of yet. But like someone else has said, high flow filters are a piece of a puzzle, the filter alone wont get you what your looking for but once you get the pipes, tunes etc the picture becomes more clear. Filter is just a starting point

Edit: id like to point out that i did the frequent filter and sensor cleaning even before the filter swap. Its more for piece of mind from the dirt road than anything else

Is there a write up for this you could point me too? Or preferred vendor for the box? I was thinking the other day how i used to butcher intake boxes and remove the snorkels for the extra air flow on my dirt bikes when i was younger (i learned my lesson) and was wondering if there was a non desctructive mod to get the same results with my truck.

I put the k-n clone (cheaper) filters in my vehicles. they are reusable so only buy one when the vehicle is new. take out and wash and spray with the oil once a year if I can remember to. better than buying a replacement or two during life of vehicle.
