hey guys I'm currently having my headers installed, and my guy is telling me that the oil dipstick looks nearly impossible to route up through the primaries as there's absolutely no room. kooks claims that it will fit and they supposedly include a spacer / bracket that helps it to fit. we don't have that spacer bracket, but if we did it still seems nearly impossible to route the oil dipstick up through the primaries as there's just no room. I'm wondering if anyone has had these installed and you were still able to keep your stock oil dipstick and its location? any pics would be greatly appreciated.ba35ae63bae1dd19bea1afdfd2d8a025.jpg

I don’t have any pics but it can be done. On my old 2013 5.7 I had kooks and there is no bracket. You have to cut the bracket off your dip stick tube and bend it to fit. It’s not that bad, I did it laying on my back. Guy at your shop should be able to do this no problem.

Most guys usually bend the dipstick to make it fit. If you got really deep pockets you can purchase a Lokar flexible dipstick for about $150. If you decide to go with a Lokar PM me and I'll explain all the hoops you have to go through. There are also some lines, wires, gas line and trans shift cable that need to be protected BEFORE you install the headers---make sure they do that!!!!!!

The front transfer-case chassis supports need to come off, or cut the bottom dipstick bracket and reweld. Not going to get the hex head screw out as the fiat engineers didn’t leave enough clearance.

You could torch the bolt and hope for the best...

Awesome, thx. They got my stock to work for now, but I think I'll get this one soon. Did you install this one?

I actually had them make me a custom one 31" long about 4 years ago.It reaches up to roughly where the OEM dipstick does, but it's a lot more money, and whether it's worth the extra cost is debatable, lol. There's quite a few guys on facebook running the 24" version, and it looks like the best place to bolt it to,is to the brake booster bolts.

Price has not gotten any lower........lol

The price will be around $175.00 + shipping. In general custom dipsticks will take 4 to 6 weeks to make.

Thank you,

Customs one's longer that 24" will not be made by Lokar anymore. They told me it has been this way for a couple years now. See attached PDF

Not what they told me on 3/14/2019

Interesting, what length did you request? Are they doing it for you?

No could not see putting $200 in a dipstick when mine still worked.

When i had a shop install my Kooks they reused my stock dip stick. No issues after 3 2-3 years of driving.

Do you happen to know if your stock dipstick is touching your primary? Or do you know how much clearance is between your dipstick and your tubes? We got my stock one to work, but there's like zero clearance between it and my primary, and when you get on it sometime the knock sensors detect that vibration and pulls timing.

I know Charonblk had them make him one either 27" or 29" long last year.Sounds like I got lucky getting them to make me a custom one 31" long a few years ago.

I'll double check later today. I have not had the issue you're describing.
I have a 2010 if that means anything.

Perhaps they are different. You can see here I have no room.

I was wondering--they make those heat shield casings that go around wires etc and I was wondering if you could put the dip stick holder in one of those. It would help prevent the tube from getting hot from touching the header pipe and also not allow any metal to metal contact. Let me see if I can find a picture somewhere and if I can I'll add it to this post.

I was think about the heavier ones. I used something similar for my shift cable that was realllly close to the header pipes.
