LC7i on Uconnect 5.0

Anyone know of any good documentation on hooking up an LC7i to their truck. My truck of course is the no alpine. I'm really just needing to know if besides tapping into the speakers do I need to run a power line also?

Updated question. Does my unit have a factory amp?

I just hooked up the LC2i

LC7i May be a bit of overkill unless you need 3 amps.

LC2i will do sub amp and a full range amp from a single set of inputs

You will not need a remote power line, but will need your standard fused 12v and ground.

If you're just wanting two fadeable amps then youve probably got the right thing,
you do not have a factory amp.

In your case tap them at / near the Radio and run the RCAs to the AMp locations.

tap one set of fronts and run them to a set of inputs, if you plan on using two amps for the front, just jump them over to the other set of high level inputs. Tap the rear speakers then for the sub amp inputs

Just sucks ram never included pre amp out put RCA's on the factory radio. A speaker level input will never sound as clear as an rca to rca connection.

I have the dq-61. If you are replacing your speakers you will need to add a resistor(i'll have to go look at the type) to the speaker level inputs of the LC7i. I know this is the case for the non-alpine 8.5 radio. If you do not and remove the stock speaker you will not get sound. Beat myself silly for about a day until I found the reference on the forums. I want to say that someone on the site makes a harness that plugs into the stock harness and has the line outs needed for the amps builtin.

No auto manufacturer does this. Not in their interest to encourage customers to mod their vehicles.

Its just a shame no manufacturer does. Speaker level inputs sound no where near as clear as RCA outputs do.

Does the pac use speaker level inputs to convert to rca so you can run an amp?

So as I thought I understood this, I can tap the rear speakers to get the signal to the LC7i, my confusion yet, is do I need to do front and back, and dash? Right now I'm just going to hook up a 4channel amp to power all the door and dash speakers.

Ok whats going on is that the head unit must see the resistance provided by a speaker or it simply shuts off that channel. So you need to go from head unit--->resistor--->LC7i---> Amp inputs--->speakers. You might ask audio control if the LC7i has built in resistance, some level convertors do.

ChrisM101 thank you for clarifying that for him. On the DQ61 it will take the signal coming straight from the stock head unit without the need for a converter but will need resistors. It might be easier with a converter with the built in resistors. I just added them in line for about $6.

I didn't what that little bit of information hamper you installing the LC7i. It would be a little frustrating trying to figure out why the speakers work coming directly from the head unit but not through the LC7i

So amongst all the excitement and trying to get this all done, I think I may have misunderstood some things. Hope someone could clarify. So as I understood, I could take this LC7i amd hook up amps through it with the stock radio. I now understand its function clearly. Where I am confused now is this. I have "tapped" (hoping the definition of that termbis not the problem) the front and rear speakers. By that I mean this, I used speaker wire taps. For the fronts Inoulled the head unit, and tapped in there,then running new wire from there to the back of the truck to the LC7i. So the stock connection to the actual speakers is still there. Then for the rears I tapped each side at the B pillar, running new cable from that point to the LC7i.

I now have them all plugged into the LC7i. The fronts are plugged into the main input and the rears are plugged into Channel 2. When I turn on the car the power light on the LC7i goes on, and that is the only light that turns on. I'm assuming the lights that say " connected to main channel" should light up if it is working correctly. Also I have tried using an AC-ALG. I also bought some resistors that AudioControl recommended but still no joy. The speakeks all work, but seamingly not as they should.

My main question is, is the method I did of "tapping" in correct?

Also, I measured the voltage on the speakers plugged into the LC7i and they are showing about 6 volts.

so if I am reading it correctly you are tapping into the existing speaker wires that are still connected to the speakers. The tapped wire is what is what you are connecting to the lci7? I think I tried that with my dq-61 and it didn't work. My setup is I took the front and rear lines and directly wired them to the DQ-61. I took the resistor and connected it across the - and + of each pair. from the DQ-61 I went to a 5channel (front rear and sub). That is how mine is working. I had a hard time as well getting it to work. This is the configuration that works for me. Very well I may say.

I seem to have figured out my problem. For some reason I thought the lc7i did some super duper magic, I need now to run out of the amp speaker wire to my replacement speakers, I did not realize I had to do that but it makes total complete sense and lesson learned.

I tried using the lc7i with a 8.4ra4. If it doesnt work after you run the wire try the resistors that were mentioned earlier.

I gave up and bought a pioneer HU
