I have a 2020 PW that I bought new and noticed a couple drips about a week in. Took it to dealer where I bought it and they replaced the return line and proclaimed it fixed. Couple days later still dripping.

Took it to a dealer much closer to home and they said they want to replace the whole box that something might be wrong with the box where the lines connect. Here's where it gets interesting: dealer said he's hearing April 2021 for the part. To his credit he's trying to expedite.

I'm trying to come up with a word that describes my thoughts on a part not available for six months.

I just wanted to throw this out here and get some thoughts. Thanks all.

I sincerely apologize for the frustration, @JC07. If you would be willing to follow up with us via private message to provide your VIN and contact info, I would like to get a case escalated on your behalf to a specialist who can work alongside you and your dealer to get the part in as soon as possible.

It's due to Covid, plain and simple. In the machine building industry, we have had components that were once 12 week delivery now stretched out to 52 weeks.

^^ This. Western manufacturing has gotten very, very good at supply chain management pushing responsibilities away from prime factories onto suppliers. This is a highly fault-intolerant system.

Manufacturers, of course, are taking first dibs on parts so as to keep their cash flow running. Can't afford to take a hit on deliveries only to have parts sitting on shelves for 'what if' situations. All it takes is a supplier to have a glitch and an entire production line can stop. And its not even the prime supplier but sub-suppliers that can be responsible for delays. Some of these guys are surprisingly small companies. If you shut down a business for 2-4 weeks due to an outbreak it can take a long, long time to recover.

Though I will say part of this is not new. Friend had a first year Rav4 that got hit six months into the product life cycle. Took half a year to get body parts from Toyota. And this was in mid 2018, well before CoV-2.

^^ please give us feedback on the RamCares response/process. I like the fact that they monitor forums and offer to help. Just curious if they're effective at doing more than the dealer can.

Unlikely. Some of these issues have plagued all model years for years. Should have been addressed in an engineering change and fix sent to field, production, and assembly. Most dealers have inept and incompetent staff, throw parts at it or determine unable to replicate so customer is FOS. I've had a STAR case open for 3 years and no resolution.

They were all over it, I was impressed. Dealer told me six months for the part, they made it happen in a couple weeks.

Don't be discouraged. Try and have patience. I simply wanted to get my wife a Dashboard Cover for her 2019 RAM 1500 Bighorn 4wd but was told by the company that I was looking of atleast and 8-12 week delay in getting the order processed and produced. Then of atleast another 2 weeks on top of that to get it shipped to me.

Nice good to hear when things go well. Too often we only hear the negatives.

Agreed due to Covid parts for all automakers have been tough to get , with long delays , the other option is to see if the service Manager can get ahold of his or her District Manager and have them put notes in for a aftermarket replacement. or contact Ram Care and have them reach out to the Service Manager. In addition see if the dealer ran a parts locate on the part and see if a different dealer has it and willing to ship. Hope this helps and let’s us know how it turns out.
