Man I am getting blind, yes mine are marked 9006. Weird they don't fit. Wonder if there is a difference in the horizontal 2500 fog light enclosures?

Edited post 1 with Edit 2...fog lights!

I hope not! That's what my father in law has!

Be sure to align it properly before seating. It can be tricky with the clocking adjustment.

I can let you know Saturday if it works in his.

I even took the clocking ring off and tried to get just that to fit and no go. It just won't fit in the hole no matter how I clock it? I'll take a look again tomorrow and try to get some measurements of the hole in the light housing.

I had the same problem. I returned mine, and will try something else later. I tried moving it all over, and tried both bulbs just incase. Mine was marked 9006 as well.

Do you have horizontal fogs as well?

Quick question...is that bulb the stock bulb and if so is it labeled 9145?

Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk

It sure is! Well that may explain the issue. Strange because I have tried other 9006 LEDs in there before and they fit. Also every "bulb finder" site I have been to said it was a 9006 bulb. Guess I should have looked at the OEM bulb itself.

Everything I've looked at shows them as interchangeable as well. I want to say my stock bulbs for the vertical fogs on my 2014 were 9145s too. I'll check my shop tomorrow to see.

I'll give an update on Saturday too when I try them on the horizontal fogs.

So I got my order yesterday. Just went out to put the 9006 fog bulbs in ....and they don't fit? I've tried other 9006's and they fit fine but the outside diameter of the collar of the light (where the rubber gasket is) is too large to fit in the hole for the bulb?

Anyone else try theirs yet?

.
I have 9005 led bulbs in my H10/9145 fog lights (2012 1500) and I had to put the smaller of the 3 "tabs" in first, then turn the bulb a little bit and the other 2 tabs would then line up and I could push the bulb in and lock it into place. Sort of a hassle when your under the truck and working with a tight area but it is possible, just takes a little effort and some extra time to make the 3 tabs fit inside the bulb socket and lock.

9005/9006 are pretty much the same thing so if my 9005 fit into the fogs then the 9006 should fit too. I know plenty of members on here are running 9006 bulbs in their fogs. I know that some of them went with the other method and "cut" some plastic off the bigger tabs of the bulb and it's apparently easier to put them in but I didn't want to cut them up, so I made them fit how they came lol.

It's not the tabs that are the problem, it's the diameter of the bulb where the gasket is. Like I stated before I have had other 9006 bulbs in there but these HIKARI bulbs don't fit. Go back up a couple of posts and you can see the pictures I took and see what the issue is.

You can see in the specifications of the bulbs below. The 9145 has a 20mm diameter and the 9006 is a 22mm. My guess is some 9006 are a little under or the hole in the housing is slightly bigger so they fit while others don't.

Oh my bad. Yeah I have never seen that issue before but then again I focus mainly on headlights. Sucks you can't get it to fit.

So I just went out and measured the hole in the fog light housing itself. It's approximately .794 so with the light being .878 in diameter there's my problem. I guess not all 9006 bulbs are created equal...

I had the same issue on my father-in-law's 2012 1500. "If" that inner ring was a little larger it'd fit like a glove. I think I'm going to try a 9005 and see how that fits.

It's funny how ALL of the sites selling bulbs and listing compatibility say 2009-2018 = 9006 bulbs in the fogs! Even Headlight Revolution's site!

A 9005 shows as being the same diameter as a 9006 (22mm) so not sure that would fit either? May be luck of the draw. Seems like the 9145 is the correct bulb but less choices on that one.

Well I did dig out the exacto knives set I have for another project...maybe I'll whittle away at the Hikari base until they fit?

I thought about that myself but was concerned about how well the gasket would seal if I did that? Don't want to get water or moisture in there. We get a lot of rain here in Georgia.

Understandable...I have an O-ring kit and some dielectric grease which should do the trick. I'm also tempted to find a set of housings and modify that for him...

So, what do you think? I don't have a horizontal fog light to try this on at the moment, but I just pulled the seat off and flipped it around, then grabbed a pair of seals off an old set of 9007 bulbs I had lying around...9dd19ebaaec9210dd7d3bdf2ac0a2cf6.jpg

or this to replace the ring that comes on it. can you take off your seat and measure just the bulb "shaft" ? Will the shaft fit in the HB3 adapter from the link below? Is the HB3 a size that will fit in the vertical fog light hole?

Either one of those ideas may work? Give it a shot. I returned mine already
