So after installing led bulbs in my wife’s little Mazda 3, I loved the output and the look. So I began looking for my 16’ RAM and came across the supernova gen 3 bulbs. But with a price tag of $200, I began to look for an alternative.
I found a clone of the supernova gen 3 led bulbs on amazon, exact bulb down to the zes led chip placement for 49.99. They come with an external canbus adapter but for reassurance I also purchased a A10 led canbus/antiflicker/resistor adapter for $15. I installed the lights 30 minutes ago and At first I just used the included canbus adapter. I received no error codes or bulb out warnings etc..it wasn’t until I pulled up to a building to check the cutoff that I noticed the slightest flicker in the lights.
So I drove home and added the A10 harness and checked them on the side of the building again-no flicker anymore, no error codes etc...just a nice white bright light. The cutoff is near identical to the halogen bulbs, with no glare or scattered light. I drove around for 30 minutes and never got high beamed and pulling up behind a Toyota Corolla my lights cut off perfectly at the top of its trunk just like the halogens. For $55 putting together my own supernova kit compared to $200 for the “official” one I am pretty pleased.
