Good Morning,
I have a '17 and am looking at upgrading the headlights to LEDs. I have been told that with the projector lenses in our trucks, LEDs cause a "dead line". In my email conversation with Opt-7 they are saying that the Fluxbeam X LEDs have no dead line if installed correctly. Since our trucks have different bulbs for high and low beams I can't order the LEDs and put them on the high side if they don't look right. My option is going to be to do HIDs in the projectors and LEDs on the high side and fogs. I have said all that to ask this... Does anyone have any input on this situation.

I did the HID conversion from Headlight Revolution -35 watt kit about 2 weeks ago. very happy with the outcome. I did the High and Lows in the HID. Very easy to install and clean. There is the "delay" while the bulb heats up for the highs, but in rural areas where you are not switching on and off it isn't an issue.

I have read mixed reviews about the LED as well, and would consider LED in my fogs only - but that is just me.

I would get the new morimoto headlights instead of just replacing bulbs. They look really cool and updated and you wont have any delay or flickering issues

good advice, budget consideration comes into play though with the Morimotos

I just installed the supernova V.4 from Headlight Revolution and am very happy with them. So much brighter than stock. I installed a "clocked" the bulbs per the instructions and no cutoff. Plus...everything fits under the dust cover. 100% plug and play. On my 16, both high and low are 9005 bulbs. Not sure how the 17 is different

I have morimoto 35watt HIDs in mine and I love em. I just did away with the relay harness and resistors on mine by activating HIDs on my alfaobd. Now it's just ballasts and ignitors. Was able to get rid of the resistors on my morimoto fogs as well. Was running 55watt ballasts and had nothing but problems with those and the relay harness was the kit came with.

I haven’t tried LED’s in these stock projectors but the guy I talked to over at vanquish auto who sold me all my bulbs said the HID’s would be better than the LED’s. I have the LED’s though in my highbeams snd I’m in my fogs, though. Pretty nice upgrade.

So with Having quads and going to projectors all that would be needed is the adapter pigtail along with the Ballasts and igniters?

I would think so. The kit i got from vanquish sent all that stuff. With projectors, you’ll have to drill a 3/4 or 1 inch hole in the back cover to run the wiring outside the headlight for the ballasts.

I had Morimoto HID's in my 2016 with projectors. Really worked well. Which kit did you purchase?

A good set of HID bulbs in the low beams and some decent LEDs in the highbeams is the way that I went. then I added the build code to turn off the canbus bulb monitoring and that cancels the need for any of the little tricking devices and you get full power to the headlights

Would you have any information regarding connector Diagram hook up you did. I'm converting from Quads to Projector.

Amazing Bulbs, super bright and easy installed. No blind spot unlike most other LED H11 :)

Yep, so much nicer not having resistors scattered everywhere

Did you use the thread here? And do you have the AEV procal? I’d like to get rid of my resistors as well, or maybe just find someone in my shop who can turn the LEDs on in my fogs. I have them tied to the bars that stick down on the frame in the front (forget what they’re called, some people mistakenly think they’re the snow plow mount) but I bang those on every rock off-road. I’d like to remove them, but also the resistors entirely.

You’re a tech, can you walk me through how to do that? I’ve got service access in dealerconnect, I imagine I would just need to uplink to one of my tech’s witech to activate it.
