Towing a 2019 Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR my wife affectionately named Francis. My 2018 Ram 1500 Big Horn 4x4 pulls it just fine since the trailer is roughly 5K lbs dry. I haven't weighed it with the Quad and all the tanks full so I don't know what its actual weight is but the GVWR is about 7600. Well within this trucks pulling capabilities.
It only sways around in high wind situations and its still very minimal.
Towing this from Mesa, AZ to St Louis, MO was pretty uneventful; however, it did cost quite a bit in gas. It was about $500 in gas on the way there, roughly 10 fill ups.We tried to fill up only when the light came on or at the red line below a quarter of a tank left. The Range calculator wasn't super reliable but it worked well enough to keep us out of trouble. Average MPG was around 5 or 6... probably standard for towing a load. I don't have as much experience with towing aside from this truck and trailer combination.
When we first got the trailer, we were pulling it with a 2002 F-150 and it did OK going to Tucson but I knew it would struggle going up to Heber or for long trips. The F-150 made it from PHX to ST Louis and back once, towing a U-Haul Trailer back and it struggled on some of the steeper grades with its 3.55 gearing, bigger tires, and 4 speed trans.
Betty was a good truck but we traded her in for Delilah and hopefully she's gone to a good home! She had maybe 130K miles on her when we traded her in.
