How does the Pioneer 4500NEX sound with the stock speakers?

For anyone who already has an XM subscription for another vehicle you can download the XM app on your phone and Bluetooth it to another vehicle. You won’t get the fancy display on your headunit but you will get the music. Helps if you have an unlimited data plan lol

I have a 2011 2500 Tradesman that I've added some items to help upgrade it: such as, Kenwood eXcelon DNX695S radio with CD, pandora, Spotify, Waze, YouTube, navigation, and backup camera. I also replaced all the speakers in the cab as well. I didn't have the time to do it myself, and had the local auto stereo shop in Carson City do the installation.

I've also added the upper glove box, cabin air-filter, replaced drivers side seat cushion & seat cover, and added outside trim features like fender flares and mud-flaps, bug shield, and upper side window vent covers. In the bed I added a BedRug, ACCESS tonneau cover, and side rails. Also replaced the chrome steel rims with pull offs from 2018 Laramie and am now running tires from Les Schwab. Photo of radio and seat below:

EDIT: replaced blurry pic of radio with cleaner pic (but more flash glare) and removed seat photos (not really on topic with the thread).

It’s the boss audio bvcp9685a. It’s not anything crazy good but it’s better than the stock unit. I looked at a few alpine units and came really close to getting the Pioneer 1400nex but this Boss was a good deal and it paired up well with steering wheels controls using a PAC interface

FYI: The idatalink only works with specific aftermarket stereos. You can goto https://www.idatalink.com/ to check

Exactly, I was just going to comment on this. That boss crap won't work with idata.
Pretty much the big 3 Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine. I think Sony has a couple now too... But why.... When you can buy a Kenwood Excelon and enjoy life with great music.

Just finished installing a Phoenix Android 12.1 radio in my 17 1500 last week and so far have had zero issues with it and absolutely love it. It's a quite different and takes a little to get used to especially not having the volume knob, but everything you can do with it is awesome

I’ve got a 2014 1500 Tradesman with a pioneer 4500NEX installed in it. It’s got wires and wireless CarPlay and android auto. It loos good and runs circles around the oem units 5189e61ac0abbedb260681bbaab1ae03.jpg

Looks great

I thought about one of those, but it had too many issues at the time so I went another way.

I have a whole thread on a pure ANDROID head unit install from 2 years ago.
https://www.ramforum.com/threads/android-head-unit-install.120906/#post-2083926

Happy to say it still works 100% and with no issues.
I've since added 2 cameras to it, a 5 channel amp and a 10" sub.
I'm thinking about upgrading mainly because I would like a unit with a larger screen and I really like Android Auto.
This is a older unit now and isn't directly compatible with it.

2012 Ram 1500 Tradesman 4.7. Radio: Power Acoustik PDN 626B. Cd/dvd player. GPS upgradeable. Bluetooth connectivity. Mirrored screen. Bought from SonicElectronix. About $ 135 with metra connector. Installing a breeze, had to grind out plastic inside hole for it to fit. Aftermarket reverse camera. I made my own "hat" for the glare.

Here's mine, it's a Pioneer 4200NEX. I used the Meastro kit so that I could keep access to all my factory settings that I got too through the stock radio. I was also able to program the voice recognition button to act as a seek button, since I don't have the factory steering wheel audio controls. This deck also has Android Auto and I have a backup camera hooked up, which I didn't get pictures of.

That’s a good looking setup. You can add the buttons for the steering wheel radio control. I did that on my truck and they are nice to have.

Thanks. I will probably add the steering wheel buttons at some point, they would definitely be nice to have.
