Dont know where to start. Put in an AMS MDS Delete kit. I soaked the lifters for 3 days prior to install. After the install was complete the truck has had some misfires on a couple different cylinders and had a very noisy valvetrain. All pushrods were in place, and double checked after I pulled the valve covers again to verify. Cylinder 1 misfire disappeared but cylinder 8 stayed and wouldn't clear up. I called AMS for advice on the situation. The tech department at AMS said absolutely do not soak the lifters prior to install. These lifters are "known to trap air" if you soak them and it causes a preload condition. The lifter set that came with the AMS kit were part number 05038784AD and they have holes toward the front of the roller on the non polished portion of the lifter. I bought another cartridge set with the same exact part number from the Dodge Dealership to replace the cylinder 8 and 6 cartridge and they did not have holes in them. After the install the misfire disappeared and no noise what so ever from that set of lifters. Does anyone have any idea why the same part numbers would be different?

Maybe the AMS lifters are knock-offs,which wouldn't surprise me.
Depends on who you listen to,some outfits reconmend soaking the lifters, some say not to.

I could agree with that. The lifters did come in four sealed FCA boxes with labels... so if they are knock offs they are putting some time in materials.

You'd be surprised at how close the packaging on the knock offs is to the OEM packaging these days.
