Limited Slip Diff

So when I ordered my 2014 Sport CC (3.21s) the dealer told me that if I don't do a lot of towing that I wouldn't need the limited slip differential. I didn't really think much of it, and didnt research it too much (I know not very smart) so I didn't add it to my order. Now that the truck is on its way I keep second guessing that choice, especially after doing some searches in the different Ram forums. I won't be towing or hauling much, if any, and it wont be offroad much, so it would only come into play on wet or snowy roads. What's everyone's opinion of the trucks they have driven, or currently own that are not equipped with LSD?

I'm not obligated to buy since I didn't put a deposit down, but I am pretty excited about getting the truck. Worst case scenario I could have the dealership add it after the fact, or order a new truck.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would go back and have them add it. I think you will regret it in the long run.

My philosophy is...... I would rather have it and never use it, than need it and not have it.

I do not, and will not, own a truck without either a limited slip or a locking diff.

Ram has the LS, both Jeeps have lockers.

Where do you live? I find it essential in the snow and offroad. If you live down south, always drive on pavement or fairly high traction surfaces, you won't miss it.

I live in Pittsburgh so we do get a couple moderate snow falls a year. The truck is due to be delivered next Thursday. I asked if the dealer could install but did not get an answer yet. Does anyone know if it is possible to have it installed after the fact?

if you can do it then i would, its only like a $350 option from factory but its probably $1,000ish afterwards and then you have to worry about if it was installed perfect and will last. I did the same thing with my last express, i got 3.55 gears and it was a dog and i wanted 3.92's and got quoted $1200 dollars to change them and i was only a $50 option from the factory. I just bought another truck on wednesday and you better believe i got the 3.92's and couldnt be happier! oh and 21.6mpg on a 240 mile trip.. not bad for a hemi!!!

If you have the option, do it now. Like others said, cheaper to tick the option than to have it installed later.

I spoke with the dealer this morning and adding it post delivery doesn't look like will be possible. Told him I don't want the truck without it but he still says with traction control its unecessary. Let him know that i want the anti-spin in the truck period so it looks like its back to the drawing board for a 2014 Ram. I can either order another one, or buy one off the lot at another dealership that is the color I want and mostly equipped how I want it, minus nav which can be activated. To be continued....
