Im very pleased with the alpine system in my '12 sport, I'm just looking for some more bass without building a new box and installing an amp and whatnot, I've done that stuff enough. Can someone tell me what the power rating is for the factory sub? And is there any budget mods to get more bass out of it?

Other than ripping it out, or adding a seperate sub/amp, not sure there is much you can do.

I've got the same alpine system. I got the bass all the way up and can barely hear it. They've already replaced it once and it's not much better. I'd be interested to see what you're able to do.

well the factory sub and enclosure leave a lot to be desired...
you could start by removing the plastic enclosure and try adding a few layers of deadener to the inside of it. That plastic enclosure has to resonate very badly...by adding deadener, you will reduce resonances and possibly increase output. I would also replace the sub with something a little more robust.....many many cheap options out there for sub replacement

you might be wasting your time tho...a powered sub might be your best bet
again, lots of options

I would like to replace the sub but I need to know what type of wattage it's running.

depending on impedance and power of the amp, it may not be worth it. I know our factory OEM sub/amp kits, woofers are DVC 1 ohm.

Just a suggestion, but it's really an easy effort to replace the stock sub with something a little more beefy and a small amp. I decided to replace my stock sub with two Kicker 10s and an amp and it made a huge improvement in the overall system sound quality. Just a thought.
