Right now everything is stock on my 16' Ram 5.7. From what I understand there is resonators between the tips and the exhaust. I don't want to make my exhaust obnoxious or loud, just want some extra tone to it. My other goal is to not lose any performance, if anything gain performance.

So I am wondering if I should just remove the resonators and go with an exhaust system that the majority of the community uses or just remove the resonators for right now.

Here's what I did to my 17.
Leave resonators in, install mufflex dd18 magnaflow direct replacement muffler and add 5" tips. Deep throaty growl, awsome when opening it up and docile in traffic

One of the flowmaster direct fit models or the mufflex models are the easiest way to go about it. I love my super 10 with the stock resonators, but it can be a bit loud at cold start and MDS drone is annoying (I habitually kill it upon shifting into drive until I do something about tuning). It's nothing compared to my Scat Pack with the Outlaw catback, but it's still up there in the noticeable department (About as loud as my old 5.4 3V was with a super 44 and no resonator). Hot idle or in normal traffic its got a nice rumble that isn't super noticeable until you open it up some.

Even just tips make a difference! Added them 1st, added deeper tone. From this to this

I'd leave the resonators on to avoid having any drone when MDS kicks in or low speed cruising.

Replace the muffler with one of your choice. If you have a dual system then two mufflers will be replaced.

If you have a single in/single out system you can go with a single in / dual out muffler and run new tailpipes for a good sounding, and looking, mock dual system

You won't regret deleting the resonators. It's not very noticeable bit gives more of a throaty sound. I have a Borla ProXS and deleted resonators with 5" Carven tips. Sounds very clean and mean

Biggest question you have to ask yourself, what's your budget? For less than 200 you could go with the pypes muffler swap kit https://autoplicity.com/5012147-pyp...wJTtK1_5agfj3_KAz5EDLy7zbLf-QNREaAizxEALw_wcB, or get an 18 inch jones max flow(magnaflow knockoff) and have it welded in at a shop and be about $150 in. For $350ish you can get the dynomax catback http://tognottisautoworld.com/i-15634649-dynomax-39480-stainless-steel-cat-back-exhaust-system.html. If money's not an issue I'd get corsa db or borla.

Have you figured out yet that your question is similar to asking a group of guys what their favorite beer is? Your going to get lots of different answers. I think somewhere on the forum is a thread containing the sound of different mufflers installed on members trucks. That might be helpful to you also. Good luck--
