Hello fellow members!

Love this forum and the information I found here.

I am looking on picking up my first ever truck on Monday: a pre-owned 2011 RAM 1500 Sport Quad cab. I am second guessing myself a little. I love the look of the truck and the vehicle in question is a really clean looking vehicle.

I am questioning myself on the miles... it has 93.000, should I be worried ? Are there common problems with the 5.7 HEMI? is there something i should look out for? This is my first truck, so please bear with me :)

The car is well equipped with 20" chrome rims, nitro tires, exterior is almost perfect (a couple of light scratches), interior is clean (leather+cloth combo). rear view camera, satellite radio and a couple other nice features.

Love the car, drove it, didn't feel or hear anything strange. Only issue I saw was front/left tire pressure sensor was bad (being replaced over the weekend), and needed an oil change (oil change due appeared on the dash).

Please help with your thoughts and experience on what I should be aware of. I did notice that when the dealer started it, it had a ticking sound that went away fairly quickly... the dealer said almost all HEMI's have that sound, he then took me to 2 different 2015 chargers and another 2012 RAM and all 3 had similar if not identical ticking sounds at start up.

My main concern (if it even is a concern) is the mileage.

Thank you!!

I own a 2011 Ram with 100k+ miles. A few things to look out for would be:

Pevious repairs to the exhaust manifold. They tend to leak on the hemi, and are expensive to fix if not covered under warranty. The bolts will break and they will leak eventually, so hopefully it's already happened and it likely won't happen twice. I would be concerned with the ticking on start up, could be a leak that will only get worse.

I've had some strange electrical gremlins as well. I've heard that it's not uncommon around the 2011 model year. My trucks "blows" the fuse for the A/C and automatic headlights every once in a while. I use quotes because I just pull the fuse and put it back in and it works.

Other guys here might suggest that you make sure it has the proper gearing and a limited slip differential. I hear the 6 speed transmission isn't that great too. Mine is the 5 speed and works like a charm.

I have a 2011 with the “5” speed tranny and I’m at 187,000+ all oem motor parts. What’s the price that they are looking to get ?

I had an 11. Imho the 5 speed trans is very reliable, but do not hold up to mods that increase Hp and torque. As stated, manifold bolts are known to break and will cause a tick that goes away when engine gets warm. Requires 30000 mile plug changes. 300.00 of you don't do it yourself. I went 45000 before changing without issue. If the tick is the normal hemi tick, there is info on the synthetic oil thread where some have eliminated it. Btw, o had the same seats, they are vinyl and cloth.
