Hi guys,

I'm looking to swap gauge clusters. Right now I have the 3.5 inch info screen and I found a 7 inch screen I want to swap into.

I know it'll work but I'm worried about getting my mileage corrected. I know you can go to the dealer and get it corrected, but I'm also pretty sure it's possible to just desolder the chip the holds the info and solder it into the new cluster.

Has anyone tried this? Is it possible? Do we know which chip holds the mileage info?

Thanks,
Arthur

We are getting ready to change ours on our 2016, we are
having the dealer do it, they have told me the new cluster
will sync with the ECM and load the correct mileage.

Unless something changed with the 2016's your dealer is a idiot. Mileage and hour's are stored in 2 location's. The cluster and the ECM.

I've sent your quote to the dealer for a reply, the Mechanic,
Shop Manager and the Parts dept told us the same thing
working with us on getting this done.

Thanks guys.

Got a reply from the parts dept, we will not run into this issue
since we are getting the cluster from the dealer and it will already
be programmed with our mileage from Ram.

As stated by 1500ram12 the mileage cannot be programed by the dealer. They will have to do an exchange and have one programed with the correct mileage from Ram. It's amazing how many times I see service managers and parts people that have no idea what they are talking about with these trucks. I have not heard of anyone changing the mileage chip from one speedometer to the other. I also am not sure if you did figure out which chip it was weather or not the chip from the 3.5 would be compatible with the 7" speedometer. I wouldn't want to take a chance on ruining a 7" speedometer to find out. I bought one with more miles and waited until they matched to install it. That is what most people do. There is also a company who will flash the correct mileage and hours into your new cluster for 175.00. I can't remember the name of the company but I have heard they do a good job. I am sure someone will chime in with the name.
