So...2015 Ram (yeah I know) with projector headlights. About 1 year ago I put in LED bulbs. Never had a problem until last week. Then I received the low beam headlight error. So I thought the bulb went bad.

Ordered DDM HID kit with canbus for the 2015 ram. Installed them this weekend. Sure enough tonight the low beams went off all together and I received the error. Kit is installed correctly, S its nearly next to impossible to screw up. Lights were on for about 15 mins before error.

So why did I get the error after a year from first putting in the led bulbs. Now I'm getting it with the HID kit. I know there is a TSB for the TIPMS that dodge needs to do. Will that fix it? Or should I just plan on getting obd mx and alpaobd and be done?

Just wondering why this started all of a sudden????

Thanks!
Nathan

Probably bulb ageing dropped current below the light out trigger point. AlfaOBD and set to HID.

Thanks. I have an OBD Link MX+ on order, but it wont be here for another week :( Do you think the dealer recall/flash for TIPM will fix this as well? I only ask because my low beams wont come on. So, I cant really drive at night...ha.

I don’t think they’ll want to touch a truck that’s been modified and reflash or whatnot. And if they do, it could get costly.

Well I have TSB recalls that need to be performed. 4 of them are software updates. I dont think these will cause any further issues. Worse case, I just wait for my OBDLink MX to arrive and change the setting myself.

Most likely won't help. Might even make it worse. I would put stock bulbs in, get recall done, then use AlfaOBD obd to set to HID so your bulbs will work.

So - had all the recalls done with no issues. tech cleared the code for me, but told me he couldnt make the setting change. I have alfa coming in next week. But a friend of mines works at another dodge dealer. He is bringing his factory reader over tomorrow and making the change for me :)

Sorry for the delay Ronin - I have been away for a bit. Everything worked out great. Changing the settings to the computer using Alfa OBD did the trick. I have also since added LED fog lights bulbs, and had to perform the same update using Alfa. No more problems.

Just throwing this low-tech option out there for anyone who's reading, I ended up wiring my LED headlights outside of the cars wiring system through a relay, to a switch in the cab directly, I'll report back how this works out........

My truck also a 2015 has started to act up strangely and I'll explain my experience best I can.

My hunch is weather is effecting something like the "temperature sensor" to cause the truck to behave like it does.

For almost 3 years I've ran HID's without problem. I've been experiencing the low beam bulb out error every now and again. The constant if I recall is it's always the driver side that will "go out" the other odd occurrence is in I shut the truck down turn the lights off and wait 60 seconds the bulb will fire right up however the truck still thinks its out. After key on the vehicle a couple more times the error will delete itself and all is back to normal.

This only occurs to my headlights. I have not experienced any other lighting errors.

Hey man, I just wanted to throw out my issue. I had the same problem with the low beam in my 2015 sport, I was upgrading from the stock halogen bulbs, and got some LEDS off Amazon, can’t remember the brand, but they worked at first then boom the headlight error. I had to take it to the dealership and the TBS Done fo the TIPMS, and haven’t had a issue since having it done. I bought the truck recently and noticed the normal halogen bulbs flickered here and there, but switching to LEDS threw it all out of wack. Found this link and made it perfect for me. https://betterautomotivelighting.com/2018/12/03/2015-dodge-ram-led-and-hid-problems-solved/
